Re: Anyone use flippers?

I clip some small swim fins to the back of my harness when I’m planning to go far in light or offshore wind with a big ram air kite. I have used them a few times and they work great at letting you maneuver in the water with hands free to reset a bow tie or provide resistance to pull for relaunch. On...

Today our wingfoils are typically smaller than our kitefoils, who should have thought it came to this, even for old geezers like me?
Wait what?! I have not heard or seen this. Care to explain?

Re: Best micro board on the market

The one you make yourself. Its not hard. Cheap. Yes! I have fond memories of the stoke for DIY boards back when kitefoil was taking off. Simple wood planks to complex works of art! Granted, only a minority have the inclination to DIY, and it does take some knowledge/skill/experience to make one tha...

Re: Wingfoil is building faster than everything

I think Wingfoil is outgrowing kitefoil and windsurf in my area (Chesapeake Bay, eastern USA). It’s still pretty young, lots of early intermediate riders who can gybe and stay upwind but aren’t tacking or doing foot switch. Nice social scene, lots of stoke! Fun group. I hope they improve fast! I wan...

Re: East Coast Spots

Georgia ave in Lewes, DE.

Flat water behind the large breakwaters, waves at the point, consistent contingent of kiters, it has it all.

Re: Foil wings are like wines...

Would be fun to do a blind foil test, have someone put a different foil wing on your board, keep it hidden under water, and ride it and try to tell what’s down there by the feel.

Re: Detuning the Ozone Chrono V1

Jyoder thanks for Your great input! I assume Your modification would increase the twist of the wing, lower the tip angle of attack and therefore improve tip stalls. Is this correct and what would happen if the extensions were 2-4cm instead of 1-2. Just curious. Yeah, I guess. I did this to my frien...

Re: Detuning the Ozone Chrono V1

Yes, you can make Chrono v1 more freeride oriented by tying a 1-2cm loop on C11 and C12 on both sides. Less tip tuck, better backstall/drift behavior. Not a lot, but enough to tame it a bit.

I am a beginner foiler and currently own a contra 9m and 11m and like them a lot.
Sounds like you have what you need but maybe have a case of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). The cure is to go kite more. 😂
