Re: Inflatable wing board recommendations

I've got an F-one early model and a Fanatic. In my opinion the fanatic should have been done in a wider and less vertically thick design, I have a hard board I made with similar volume that has much easier takeoff. What I've seen of the gongs on line has been good. My F-one was great except for bein...

Re: Monofoil or "riding stabless", setup and riding

The major issue with the biplane approach is that you double the tip vortices losses. Enclosed (joined) box wing designs bring this back down to 2 vortices but then you have drag from the joiners. Triton have had some success with release of their high reflex wing tips a few months after I linked Ad...

Re: Question for those 3D printers out there

I believe the ductility of high % fibre content resins is very poor too, certainly it is for glass fibre. I'm pretty sure the fibre contents I've seen listed for CF blend filaments is quite low.

Re: conspiracy theory: no way wings should be so expensive

Alibaba wings are like $400, but its a total gamble with contract manufacturers making their own judgment on features without firsthand experience- resulting in goofy things like booms with handles the full length. But GONG is finding ways to test and make decent products by cutting reasonable corn...

Re: The SAB kraken has landed

... really think that SABfoil have achieved both the stiffness of the 2 series masts, and the speed of the 1 series masts? After all, the same carbon mast material is being used and the same laws of physics apply. I would be amazed if they have managed this and can't think of a way it could have be...

Re: First wing board size: must it be weight + 40?

Hi all, I'm venturing into the wing thing next week and had a question. I've kited for 15 years, kite foiled for 5 years and now ready to try some winging. I was able to recently get my 5.0 wing out with a sup and had a fun time cruising around a lake- staying upwind easily at the end of the first ...

Re: Wing harness - post yours

Interesting ideas. I'll have a think about how to make a hook that folds flat but pokes out when needed. Sounds like a David Attenborough thing. Hopefully not as complex as a male spiny echidna's under carriage.

Re: New super high AR wings?

Cool!! What taper ratio are you using?(TIPchord/ROOTchord). From what i have read (about airfoils) tapering increases induced drag at high AOA(low speed) and decreases it at low AOA(high speed).Did you get results like that too?. At the moment it's buried in a partially infused sandwich of composit...

Re: Tubercle wings and my moulding process

Hi Fluidity, How do you approach the wing design? Do you take a foil and add the tubercles so they are bigger/thicker than then main foil or do you rather carve out the in between the tubercles so you have a thinner edge than normal. Cheers Dirk Hi Dirk, I think I do it differently than most other ...
