Re: Pulleys on kites

but now that brands have figured out how to make shorter bridles, It's not that difficult, shorter bridles are made by using shorter pieces of line  I just finished a kite with very short bridles, probably shorter than what is ever seen in traction kites. However there is some twist in it and...

Re: Kite collapsing on itself during down loop !

Aiming for 10psi seems too much for 57kg rider. If it really is needed, then changing pump to electric ion (or other make) or possibly a SUP high pressure/low volume ought to negate problems with not having enough mass to achieve pressure. I would have thought that so long as it retains pressure, t...

Re: Kite collapsing on itself during down loop !

What is your weight pākihiroa ? Average ? Real light weight. Around 57 kg. I think I know where Peter was going with this as I was curious about your weight as well. You might simply be too light - or rather - at our weight you're flying this kite in conditions too light for that particular size an...

Re: Ozone speed system adjustment

It is possible to make a double pulley mixer by using only three pieces of line. Lighter, easier and faster to do, also unnecessary loops and connections are avoided. Dyneema is so cheap and mixer is so simple it is no drawback to replace it all after pulley lines are worn out - which takes quite a ...

Re: Kite collapsing on itself during down loop !

Real light weight. Around 57 kg. You really are a light weight guy. If you have a standard 4" pump and you want to have your kite inflated to 10psi pressure you must press it down with 125lbs weight which happens to be exactly 57kg. I've noticed many times women are not able to pump enough pressure...

Re: Are Switch kites getting any better?

From a design point of view I think pulleys give more consistent loading under different angles of attack. For sure, pulleys divide loads all the time, so bridle is self-adjusting. Very easy to design, only choose pulley line lenghts and let pulleys do the rest :) If you check latest BRM kites you ...

Pulley line lengths are not at all critical in length, as far as they are long enough to bar sheeting range.
Of course then A line of the mixer and brake extension must be of equivalent length to get everything even (or some appropriate lenght).

Re: Ozone speed system adjustment

Pulley line lengths are not at all critical in length, as far as they are long enough to bar sheeting range. Usually mixer is done to get both ends even (flying line/bridle attachment points) when pulley lines are tightened. Then it is irrelevant where pulley line length measurements are made and it...

Re: High y vs low v

Difficult question needing much testing to find out possible small differences. I don't know why 5th line should be long at all, if it goes all the way to the bar it is an added nuisance and drag. If center of the kite must be supported by the bridle why don't do it like F-one does with the Furtive?...
