Re: This kite could change it all | Emergency Episode | The Megapod

Anecdotal story how some kite is good or better than anything else LOL. Building hype is not quite enough, if you really have something special it should look like something special, to have new features/tech. This kite industry is boring. Best it can offer is new fabrics, welded seams, printed grap...

Re: Ozone Vortex Ultra-X

they seem to have similar design: 7 point bridle for dlab and 8 point for Vortex for extra stability, both 3 strut / big air kites. That is something new, it is a bit like foil kite type bridle. Quite simple of course anyway but for LEI kite it is a lot. That should allow thinner LE and at least gi...

Re: Ozone Vortex Ultra-X

If you truly wanna have fun with a big kite and boost high just switch to a foil kite. I'm only 65kg yet my highest jump on my 15m Flysurfer Soul on flat water is 19.5m. Those big air kites are meant to be ridden in small sizes for loop performance, for my weight I usually don't ride any tube kite ...

Re: Ozone Vortex Ultra-X

Mediocre high is perhaps 2/3 at most of what kiter can reach with small(er) kite. One guy I know who has boosted 14.5m from flat water was once able to get over 10m with 17m kite. But he is big 220lbs guy. Normal sized guys, me included, are happy to get 6-8m height with big kites and many times it ...

Re: Ozone Vortex Ultra-X

Disagree [/quote] You really think you can edge as hard as 265lbs guy :D Of course anyone can use big kites but it is just not possible for normal person to boost high or even mediocre high. If wind picks up you can jump much higher using smaller kite. Everyone knows this and reason for it is what ...

Re: Future Kites-Wings will be around 25 PSI +

The leading edges should be woven and manufactured like a 3d hose, without sewing, which is the weak spot. But then attaching canopy would be problematic. Also bridle points and valves would need new designs. Woven structure might not be stable enough either. And shape of LE is conical, in two dire...

Re: Future Kites-Wings will be around 25 PSI +

What about the torsion though guys? An ultra stiff kite that doesn't turn makes no sense... If strut is thin it won't become ultra stiff. Reducing diameter has much bigger impact on stiffness than new materials. And Aluula being a woven fabric, not a laminate, is not stiff for torsion at all. Getti...

Re: Ozone Vortex Ultra-X

Allmost all small kites are fun, but there is close to zero high performance playful kites in the bigger sizes And reason for that is quite simple. Normal size kites - 12m and under - have in practice much higher L/D ratio than big kites. This makes them fast, efficient and easy to boost. On the ot...

Re: Micro Carbon kite bars ?

Put the hole on the side of the tube. Hole can be bigger, giving less friction plus the bar will be stronger and lighter as you don't have to reinforce the center with the bonus you don't grind into sharp carbon with the depower cord. Also a matte sanded finish will give more grip when wet. Funny y...

Re: Which is the durability of a carbon foil?

Spotz tuna 3 is old as f*** so not enormously relevant Plus they closed in 2016/17 Spotz were seriously good foils though and introduced massive accessible performance when a ML bullet 3 was still on the drawing board Ok, but anyway that's not how it is supposed to do. Barrel nuts are strong and si...
