Re: Kite specific alaias

Very beautiful, how thick is yours? What wood is made of? What is its weight? Thanks It is made from a glued wood plank, thickness is 18mm, I have made the edges and the nose thinner, also slight concave in the middle. The wood, I believe, is fir. On both sides I have thin fiberglass cloth in epoxy...

Re: Kite specific alaias

Here is one I made some years ago, real fun to ride, the size is about 170x50 cm. Lightwind capabilities and upwind is amazing. In bigger waves takes some care not to pearl the nose.

Re: What kite should I get?

My foil is a Gong Pro L (1350cm2) with kite stab. I am using Gong Pro M wing, in light winds I prefer Gin Marabou 9m (power-wise close to a 11-12m lei kite), when it gets a bit stronger I use 9m Naish Boxer. When it gets even stronger, I ride a surfboard. A while ago I tried a strutless RRD Emotion...

Re: inflatable kite

Are all inflatable kites suitable for colder temperatures (< -10C)? The materials should not become too brittle (like PU coated depower lines). In my area lots of people ride inflatable kites in winter (snow, ice) -- whatever kites people use in summer on water, the same kites they use in winter. I...

Re: Pocket board building

I am thinking: what if the pocket board would be thick and narrow (like 109cm long, 10cm thick, 31cm wide); I am planning to use with a big wing (1100cm2). What would be the drawbacks of making it narrow? Harder to switch feet?

Re: gong has no kitefoil anymore?

If you start with the mast page https://www.gong-galaxy.com/en/product/gong-foil-allvator-carbon-pro-mast-70-surf/ then on the bottom they list the compatible options. I bought this mast together with the M Pro Clear wing and 40cm surf stab, and I am very happy with my choice. I am about 80kg, the w...

Re: gong has no kitefoil anymore?

They do have kitefoils on their website https://www.gong-galaxy.com/en/category-product/foil-en/kitefoil-en/kitefoil-en-kitefoil-en/ . But those new carbon masts and large wings are listed as surf foils https://www.gong-galaxy.com/en/category-product/foil-en/surfoil-en/wings-stabs-fuselages-masts-en...
