Re: Custom Kite Lines

If you already have the bar you can cut the lines and splice in new loops. It's pretty easy to do.

Re: Switch QR failed me

Firstly I don't want a replacement. Secondly I do wash my bar well after every session. If I don't the lines stick together when I rig and it makes it annoying. It also seems to make the lines last longer. I don't however treat my kites as well....

Re: Switch QR failed me

I shot you an email. In the end all is well: I came out relatively unscathed, but as the former hosts of Top Gear would say, "poo came out".

Re: Switch QR failed me

Yes I tested it and yes I wash it after every single session. It worked when I rigged, and is not rusted. I'm not speculating as to why it failed to release. It releases now. I'm just stating that it did in fact fail to release.

Switch QR failed me

I thought it worth sharing that I had a bit of a kitemare last week. Long story short I got caught with my pants down and tried to flag the kite but the QR was frozen. I'm not sure why/how it didn't release, but I made more than a few attempts to use it and it was under considerable tension. I had a...

Re: Share some of the challenges you've had to overcome to kite.

I once spent 6 hours dealing with a rats nest in my lines (one of my first sessions after lessons I dumped it in the surf and pulled the safety). I spent about 30 minutes on the beach trying to sort it and then undid the bar from the kite (and this is where I screwed up) and went to a pub to finish ...

Re: What is the biggest risk self launching?

Not pulling depower before self launching too deep with it light enough to not hurt you and you loop it into the ground with no damage but your ego and maybe a shredded kite. Tether if possible off of something very stationary. Even jn really gusty stuff walk the bottom bridle up and load the sail a...

Re: cabrinha fx or core gts4

I find the FX to have light bar pressure but I haven't flown a park or torch. I like the kite but your results may vary. It's somewhat vague feeling but very lively.
