Open slots on a gong alu base?

The gong mast base has simple holes GONG-FOIL-ALLVATOR-TOP-PLATE-TB-GONGFOIL.png Has anyone cut them out into open slots for quicker mounting (ignoring the countersinking): slots.jpg Is there a risk that it would not be strong enough? My intuition is that it should work fine for non-jumping freeride...

Re: Ive actually run out of rope to do the flysurfer mixer test

Aah, that explains :thumb: So it was worn and needed to be trimmed a considerable amount. He explained that it was caused by swapping the 1M pully line and the 1.2M pully line. No way you have enough adjustment in the mixer to fix that. Now that he put them in the right place then all should be OK ...

Re: Replace sliding rope for spreader bar

I dip mine in melted candle wax (make sure it is not too hot - dyneema does not like heat). A couple of years on, and it does not look worn in the slightest.

Thank you both for the input. The mast issue is about luggage really... The ideal set up for me is to fit all in a normal max luggage (90cm is the max possible before airlines call it a sport equipment... So I am gonna get a wee board (ir cut an reshape my 130cm shinn jackson) and a mast not too lo...

Re: Gong foils: discussion

Fatso, your plan sounds mostly good... I'm 5-10kg lighter and after testing curve L and veloce M I am going to go for fluid LS to hit the spot inbetween. I have similar goals and similar kites to you. So fluid L sounds like a good choice for you - I would not go larger. But 75 mast seems too short. ...

Re: Ive actually run out of rope to do the flysurfer mixer test

I still have to fly the kite 100 times afterwards to figure out how to finish tuning. Ok maybe you can do it in 10 flights but it takes me forever I'm still learning So I like to fly on land in light and smooth wind and relatively short lines so I can see the smallest bridles. I like to extend C un...

Re: Sealing Ram Air Kites with Dissolved Silicone

Plenty of info from on old threads; marine goop dissolved in toluene or similar (pretty nasty stuff btw) seems like the best-performing option.

Re: Gong foils: discussion

By more front foot pressure, you mean it requires more front foot pressure? This comes back to the topic of whether stabs in general create additional lift ... or reduce lift. The "Fast" stab is completely flat, whereas the Veloce & Fluid stabs both curve a little bit down (anhedral). Does a downwa...

Re: Flysurfer Peak 4

I got this problem off and on for a year after I started foiling - but not specific to peaks. A physiotherapist can give you some good and simple exercises that should help a lot (the exercises depend on where the pain is felt).
