Re: Girls in King of the Air?

There's no reason why girls can't jump/loop as high/hard as guys so I see no reason to have a specific girls division. With freestyle it's a bit different as physique does help, for bigair and looping (any hooked stuff) you just need technique and be fit. I would love to see some girls in the comp b...

Re: core gts 2/3 size in loops

As for looping with a 10, it can be done but you need to be really powered and go high enough so that the kite catches you, shorter lines help as well. I would just get a 9. Focus on other stuff when the wind isn't strong enough to loop. What won't work with a 10m will work with a 9m???? Realistica...

Re: Average of kiters - getting older?

Frank - is it because they look up to some of the well known riders like Rubin? That be part of it, look at all the kids that took up golf after Tiger Woods got his start. Yes, there's quite some good riders which younger guys look up to and inspire them to get better. Mostly it's that if there's a...

Re: Average of kiters - getting older?

In Holland there's plenty of young kiters, a few middle aged guys as well but most kiters seem to be between 20-40. Plenty of guys pushing the sport, doing freestyle, waves and megalooping.

Re: core gts 2/3 size in loops

I weigh 90 kg and have a GTS2 size 6(for over 20 knots) , 8(for over 15 knots) and 10 (for over 12 knots) and mostly ride strapped directional boards. The GTS2 size 10 is easily looped and should not disappoint you if that is what you are after. I am getting the next generation GTS3 shortly and exp...

Re: need a new twin tip....cracked one

I've been riding a crazyfly raptor ltd for a couple of years now and that board is really durable, had some hot landings on it from kiteloops and unhooked tricks and it held up nicely. I also lost it once and it got stuck in between the boulders of a jetty, waves smashed on it and I recovered it dur...

Re: kite size recommendations

Get a 10m and a 7m, a 17m will only help a little in your low-end but with a 10m you'll be well powered in 20-30 knots, above 30kn you can ride with the 7m. Below 20kn stay with your 14.

Re: Kiting in 50-60 knots

Basic factor - I've been out windsurfing in some very heavy winds, which are frequent where I live: usually 40 knots plus. I believe I have experienced 50 knot winds about 3 or 4 times. Air density and bullshitting is a big factor here - at 80kilos I'm maxed out on a 5m kite in 38 knots. So I find ...

Re: Kiting in 50-60 knots

Thanks guys, knew I could rely on your knowledge to confirm this. Today we had a good session on 7-8m kites in 5° C. Drysuit season is upon us now - not too bad if you have the equipment :D Drysuit season is still 1-2 months away for us in western europe, at least the beaches aren't crowded that ti...
