Re: Where is the best place that you have kiteboarded?

My personal favorite place has changed as my kiting style and non-kiting preferences have changed. When I was an early kiter chasing big air, I would go anywhere for strong reliable wind and did not care about anything else. Then the best was Maui, Aruba, Costa Rica, ...Then I started to also value ...

Re: Predict a Flurry of rotator cuff and related shoulder injuries associated with wing foiling

I suggest you ask your doctor. I'm an ex-competitive swimmer and am banned from all sorts of shoulder motions. Whenever I ignore the advice (always due to great conditions...), I pay a big price. They may not know the sport, but if you demonstrate the motion and forces, they will understand.

Re: When did you get hooked on foiling?

I am up and riding pretty comfortably both directions but have yet to master turning/tacks. Learning was tricky and the feeling when I first got up was really cool, similair to the first time getting up on a twintip. Now I sort of have gotten used to the feeling and while cruising around is pleasan...

Re: Kitesurfer dies after slamming into wall of home in Fort Lauderdale

RIP I hate to criticize but since there's a lot of safety discussion.... there was no reason to bring the kite to 12:00. There are many beaches world wide where locals will never bring the kite to 12:00 until we are in the water kiting away. There's so much more flexibility in how to react, more tim...

Re: Seeking Single-Strut LEI Advice

I would also suggest the Ocean Rodeo Roam Aluula. It’s a bit pricier, but it is super light. And you get the stability and increased range of a 3 strut. I don’t know the weight of the aforementioned Boxer or Pivot, but the 12m Roam is 5.1 lbs (2.3 kg) and the 10m Roam is 4.4 lbs (2 kg). I agree. if...

Re: At English Natives: difference Roll vs Rotation?

The problem is: a backroll is not a back rotation. It's two different tricks. If both have the same meaning it's a problem, and will always be. And an inverted backroll is different than a backroll and inverted back rotation. ?? Your head rotates 360 degrees backwards doing a backroll, 360 forwards...

Re: At English Natives: difference Roll vs Rotation?

I agree with edt. 'backroll' is the name of a move. when you do a 'backroll' you rotate 360 degrees, and a double backroll rotates 720. you can add invert, board off, grab, ... and then it modifies backroll (inverted backroll, backroll with grab...). but outside of kiting: roll has motion associated...

Re: Gone full circle and back what I enjoy most

It's all about local conditions. If you give me a choice to go any where in the world then it would be side-off waves peeling off of a reef on a surf board. But in bay chop, a surf board is not so exciting so I would have more fun foiling or TT big air if the wind is strong enough. When in Rome...

Re: Flying Ocean Rodeo Roam with One Hand?

I recently purchased the Ocean Rodeo Roam Series A 9m. I got it for kitefoiling for it's purported ability to fly in little wind (which I've found to be true so far) so I wouldn't have to deal with a Hindenburging kite. I've been kitefoiling for 5 years so I'm not a newbie. I have found the kite ha...
