Re: Light Wind - Best Bang for Your Buck

Pansh is an amazing value and probably unbeatable if you're buying new (and you use their half off sale), but I've never ridden them myself. However, I absolutely loved my 17.5m Flite and without question I would recommend one. Unless you're really light though I'd go up to a 17m, especially if you'...

Re: Kite for the most marginal conditions

So, ignoring whatever's going on the last few posts... It's looking like a BRM C2 17m is probably going to be the first kite up and last one down (ignoring something like a 21m Sonic 2 full of helium on 50m lines). Right now I'm starting to lean towards picking one up because I know if I get ...

Re: Flysurfer boost compared to ozone edge?

I think one of the big differences between the two will be the trailing edge bridal available on the boost in sizes 11m and up. Supposedly this improves the low end and relaunchability, but I can't speak from experience.

Re: LEI for very marginal conditions

Peter_Frank: Thanks fire the detailed responses! I knew most of that relaunching stuff, but didn't know when you had it on its testing edge that you should let it roll into it's back (I always waited for the wind to pick up enough that I could just tug the front lines). Lots of my spots do have a li...

Re: LEI for very marginal conditions

I get that foils are far lighter and are likely to stay in the air longer, but there are several factors that that have caused me to rule them out. 1) poor launches: several of the places I attempt to kite at necessitate a drift launch, potentially swimming out into deep water first 2) really shifty...

Re: LEI for very marginal conditions

The velocity hadn't been on my radar, but if it's lighter than the solo and relaunches even sooner then it sounds like it could be just what I'm looking for.

I'd thought the contra was cabrinha's light wind kite and having tried both I definitely prefer my Flite.

Re: LEI for very marginal conditions

I've read about the opposite lines technique, but on my infinite surf bar the center lines are too far for that to work. I'd been trying reverse launches, but it sounds like it's worth getting a different bar to ensure I can use the opposite lines thing.

Re: LEI for very marginal conditions

OR Flite seem to be a very good light wind candidate as you know. You could certainly improve relaunch abilities (say -2 knots minimum) by easily adding a ERA line on one strutt. Huh, this is the first I'm hearing of ERA lines. A big Flite + one of those could definitely be what I'm looking for. I ...

Re: Kite for the most marginal conditions

Ah, this is what I was looking for!

With my big pump the tiny valve on the Flite isn't a break breaker, but it is annoying. In order to justify everything I spend on this hobby though I buy everything used or very heavily discounted, so if I get a Flite it'll likely be one with a small valve.

Re: Kite for the most marginal conditions

Originally I was looking at a new OR Flite since they cut down the weight substantially and I know I love the kite, but I'm wondering if I might get going even sooner with one of these single strutted or strutless kites. In such marginal winds where I'll probably be swimming in often I'm not comfor...
