Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

Just a bit of a follow up: I took a very close look at the OR straps and pads and compared them to those that came with my 07 CrazyFly AllAround. The two straps are virtually identical but the CrazyFly setup is comfy as heck and the OR's are pure torture, which leads me to believe that all my previo...

Re: Bicycle mounts, carrying kite stuff on a bike

Hey WindRider, check some of the surf shops around town most have board racks for bikes. I know I got one at Downing Hawaii in Kapahulu a while back. I also know a couple guys who built carriers out of PVC pipe to carry their longboards, not pretty but real cheap. Edit: the one I got was like this: ...

Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

I did my first "serious" session with the Mako Wide today, a 12 mile down-winder in knee high surf and chop. I still am learning the board, but in the waves it was fun. The pads though... argh... about half way the pain was unbearable. By the end of the session I could barely walk! Evan, please can ...

Re: Which Light Wind Board?

I weigh 245-250 and with my 07 CrazyFly AllAround 145 x 49 and my 07 Waroo 20m I'm able to go out in 12 mph easy (here on the OBX of NC). I opted for the AllAround because I tend to ride in the ocean more than the sound. The ride is super nice, great flex and the pads and straps are real comfy. High...

Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

Thanks John, saw that thread. Wondered if you had a "secret method" to do it. Naw, I'm gonna keep these pads, they seem to work just fine and with the NSI straps I think I'm set.

Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

Yeah, guess I've got pretty weird feet. I dumped the OR straps and added a pair of NSI Proton straps that I was gonna put on a surfboard and never did so the problem should be solved. Now all I need is some sunshine and wind... :)

Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

Thanks Evan. I got another short session yesterday in barely powered to very underpowered conditions (a 3 mile down winder) in waist to head high surf (I was desperate to get out). I think I'm starting to get the hang of the board, it definitely has potential, but the straps flat out suck. Now that ...

Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

John,

On the topic of pads, just how hard/easy are the stick on pads to pull off without damaging the board? I'll probably keep the pads, but just curious all the same...

Re: KITE SPOTS ON THE BIG ISLAND HAWAII

Best advice I can give you is to buy a cheap ticket to Maui and kite there.

Re: ocean rodeo mako wide - anyone bought one yet?

Solved the straps problem, I swapped out the "grippy" washers for these which made the screws 100x easier to install. Weather's gonna be crap for a couple of days so hopefully will get another session soon...
