Maybe it was just on my CL but the circled part was not pushed tight enough in my opinion. This caused the pin to be able to move up a bit and come closer to be released. Nice idea!

Just some what ifs;
You drop your kite in water with "deflate" side down, relaunching it with defleat line draggin in the water.
Catch some sea weed on the deflate line

Impregnation of kite fabric with silicone spray?

So, my kite of '05 is getting a bit worn but even though the fabric is frayed and the bladder is filled with sand it is still going strong and I like it. However, when dropped the fabric does not repel the water so I am thinking of spraying it with ordinary silicone spray. Anyone who has tried this ...

Have a look at "reverse launch", you see lot of foil kiters using the same technique. Basically scrounges the TE so the kite lifts up a couple of feet

Different fins for different conditions, it all depends on what you want to do and how it should feel doing it. Different fins feel different on different boards etc....
