Re: Wind range and gusts - beginner question

Sure thing. I would rather be up and riding than floating around waiting for the occasional heavy gust and having to water start again and again. If conditions on the water are good and you don't have to deal with strong currents or waves, then give it a go. When I started, most of my kite flying pr...

Re: Sending & lift

Not really sure what you’re asking here. Just thinking what is the reasoning why sending the kite lifts you up. Line tension generated through your edge is the deciding factor if you want to boost big. Yeah, that I know. And I was thinking this is probably the reason. You send the kite up fast to p...

Re: Wind range and gusts - beginner question

You should do what you’re comfortable with. If you’re asking yourself if it’s better to come back another day, then perhaps you should do that, but my advice is to always try for more (within reason!) whether it’s on a dead wind day with a LW kite or on a day where you’ve got gusts like what you des...

Re: Sending & lift

Not really sure what you’re asking here. Line tension generated through your edge is the deciding factor if you want to boost big. With respect to kite speed, it operates like an airplane wing. The faster it moves through air the more power/lift/pull it will generate. Once you get the timing right b...

Of course, even on kiteforum Godwin’s law still applies.

Re: Best Wetsuit for kitesurf? 4/3

Well, sounds like that many are made in the same factory anyway (including need essentials): https://beachgrit.com/2015/05/meet-the-taiwanese-who-make-your-wetsuits/ As I understand it, that’s the main reason why Needessentials exists. The guy who started it had spent a number of years working in t...

Re: Best Wetsuit for kitesurf? 4/3

Need is great! Highly recommend. I’m 191cm and 88kg and my LT size suits have given me no problems. Yes it’s true that it’s the one that fits you that’s the best but as long as you get the measurements as close to your true fit as possible you’re fine. If it’s a decent suit there will always be some...

Re: Best Wetsuit for kitesurf? 4/3

Ripcurl’s Flashbomb is the best of the best as far as I’m concerned, but check out the below link which I think gives you the best value for your money. https://needessentialseu.com/ If you need both winter and summer suits I’d recommend a 3/2 when you’ve got water temps above 9C. The flexibility of...
