Re: The Duotone wing

Wow, alot of negative feedback here. I seem to remember alot of this being said about kites back in the day. Cant go upwind, dangerous, Ill keep my windsurfing gear for high wind blah blah. Here we all are 20 years on. Foils have suddenly reinvented what is possible on the water. Im glad that there ...

Re: Upcycling older R1V2s

agree to differ, there is no way to get to every cell through the inflate or deflate holes on a R1V2 and the cell seams are on the inside so you still need to cut the canopy to get in, and you cant sew the seams shut without another way in. The inflate holes have a mesh covering sewn over them and a...

Re: Upcycling older R1V2s

Yep, did all the pulley lines and z stuff, but the new bridle was the deal. Remember this kite had pretty high mileage. Unfortunately i didnt do a weight before and after but there is little doubt the kite retains moisture within itself with the coating so you need to dry it out much more thoroughly...

Upcycling older R1V2s

Now that the V3 is out there are quite a few R1V2s hitting the second hand market at prices that are acceptable to the average punter. I thought I would post a few tips I have found on keeping used R1V2s as good as possible. These are great kites, so easy to use, amazing range and speed. They have p...

Re: F-one Breeze v1 vs v2 for beginner

You don’t need any fancy new kites to learn to foil. I would suggest using what you are used to unless it is really big. You don’t want to learn in marginal conditions. Use your normal twintip sized kites for the first few goes so you can hang off them a bit. Once you have the feel of it then you ca...

Re: Raising the rocker

Maybe not the easiest unless you have the tools but I made a shim for my SUP foil by getting a nylon bread cutting board (about10mm thick), cutting it to shape and using an electric planer to thin and bevel it down to a wedge of the angle I wanted. Then drilled holes as needed and cut some larger ho...

Re: What is Your Max Speed @ Hydrofoil ?

Yeah thats my excuse...My Suunto Ambit is the problem. I have been trying to break 30 knots for ever and after every session when I think I've cracked it the numbers come back at 25-28 knots.;(

Re: The stagnant foiler.

Hah, welcome to middle age. Young kiters have no money for good gear but lots of time to practice, and get good because at the end of the day it is more about skill than gear. Older kiters have more money but less time so they buy gear thinking it will make them better. The manufacturers know this w...
