Re: If you kite and wing which to do when?

... 5. You prefer the safety and the relative slower speed of wingfoiling. I think the safety of wing foiling is a bit of a myth. I've lost count of the number or micro-injuries I've got from falling on the wing or getting bumped by the board and/or foil. All that bulky, heavy stuff tied to you wit...

Re: If you kite and wing which to do when?

My foiling whether kite or wing revolves around high wind +15 knots wind swell riding. Wind swell is a weird beast, not peeling in one direction but popping up left and right as you ride the swell. Multiple cutbacks or direction changes are required whilst riding almost directly downwind at speed. ...

Re: If you kite and wing which to do when?

I've been doing a fair amount of winging and kite foiling lately and it's stabilised into a bit of a pattern. If the wind is solid then I'll go winging, especially if there's waves about. Gliding on a wave is really enjoyable. Dropping in and carving a wave face is off the scale!! If wind is a bit ...

Re: why exactly is the flysurfer peak the best kite ever made?

Simple and easy to use if you do not make mistakes. Packs down well, simple to launch ...... Flaps and is noisy if slightly over-powered and doesn't go that well upwind. Amazing drift.
Helps if you weigh less than 100kg and are not launching in on-shore conditions.

Basically you own one for foiling.

Re: What size lightwind TT to choose and what makes for a good lightwind TT?

The problem with any of the 45cm+ wide boards is being able to edge them well and maintain your grip. My wife and I share a 150x50 CrazyFly Cruiser and I (@105kg) have no issues edging the beast at all. @65 kg, she struggles. One of things I did was to remove the standard footpads (which essentiall...

Re: Light wind foil setup for wingfoil

There are a number of things to consider: 1. If you are new at the sport, it takes time to develop your technique for low wind (pumping both the wing, pushing the board forward to planing speed, pumping the board with some planing speed). 2. If you are a fuller figured individual (110kg/250lbs+), th...

Re: Hooked !

I have a Takuma WR3 and ended up losing skin from my knuckles rubbing on the centre strut - is there something I am missing here regarding holding positions, or maybe its just the wing? Most of my flips happen when I drag the wing tip, flip the wing and then crash. When I go to right the wing, I ma...

Re: Had Low Wind Breakthrough For Big Guys Like Me 100 kg

The power spike to get up onto the board/foil is pretty important. Even though I ride a ridiculously large foil (2000cm2) and Hover 155 (and enjoy it) ..... I really rely on having quite a large power zone for the kite and I achieve this primarily by having 32m race lines. Makes a huge difference to...

Re: Had Low Wind Breakthrough For Big Guys Like Me 100 kg

I have tried several things to lower my minimum wind speed needed to foil. I use a 2300+ cm front wing.(Slingshot Infinity 99)and a Concept Air 18M Pulsion Kite. Both have helped, but the latest thing has made the most difference. I am now using a 7' Naish Sky Pirate surf board with a stick on foil...
