Ronnie, you dont need to keep the tension,
I kept the tension on so my kite wouldnt SLAM down so hard.
Even being a team rider i try to keep my gear intact
but yes your correct about walking back to keep tension. But it is defiantly not necessary!

SIMPLE.............grab both of your center lines ABOVE THE BAR!!!!!!
if you grab it below the kite wont depower enough. Once you have them the kite shouldnt pull you at all. (assuming your bow kite depowers properly)
