Re: Why you should avoid self launch when you can?

Every location has its own unique setup. The launch here in the picture is Stevenson, WA in the Columbia River Gorge. Because of a wind shadow from a tree and the steep bank - you launch with the kiter in the water and the kite 15 feet up the bank. There is no option for a tethered launch or self l...

Re: Again Fatality in South of France

PS 20-40 knots is far better than 5-25 or 10-30 knots. At least the bottom end is still windy. That means the kite will still have power in it. The higher the wind the smaller the kite the bigger the wind range that kite can handle. So 20-40 of 6m is with the its range. But what kite camn be used a...

Re: Why you should avoid self launch when you can?

As the tether launch is imo THE most safe way to launch, as it is only equipment that might get damaged, and not YOU (and unless you are a cat, you only got one life), so even safer :thumb: than an assisted launch, as the assistant might let the kite go at the wrong moment, or even if something is ...

Re: Again Fatality in South of France

This is already to big for 20 knots (I am in a 9 at those wind of wind and I am heavy). So with gusts at 35 knots, this is a recipe for disaster to happen (assuming that this 10 is correct information). I really don't like this idea that if you just put a newbie on the right size kite he or she can...

Re: Has kiteboarding lifestyle media become really boring?

Always thought that tech and high prices killed/ reduced windsurfing, in that case we might see a trend towards that in kiting as well... Seems like kiteboarding is not growing that much anymore looking at the schools and courses. Or even number of shops and salesnumbers. I would say there is a pro...

Ozone Kites USA Doing Part Support the Right Way

What a pleasure to deal with these guys. Prices are very reasonable and ordering is easy.

When are the rest of the kite gear manufacturers going to abandon the outmoded system of ordering parts from a local dealer?

Re: Helmet Communication System

I use one of these. Its big advantage is that it is compatible with every other communication system other kiters might be using. It doesn't have bluetooth, but I haven't really found myself needing it to be honest. http://www.boingboing.net/filesroot/_blogger_4749_510_1600_helmet.jpg This is one o...

Re: Kiter gets rescued by helicopter...but didn't need help

If you kite near an occupied shoreline and the wind drops well meaning observers will call 911 and every available agency will jump at the chance to use their marine equipment. It doesn't matter if the water is only three feet deep. It's great that the help is available, but not understanding kiting...

Re: two board quiver

I am the same weight and have a board about that size, plus a bigger one for light wind.
