Re: Janek injured again

Anything Red Bull pushes the limits till death. Is it us who likes to see extreme? I have hit the water pretty hard but nothing like the potential impact these pro riders could experience. How much risk is there of a fatality at a big air event? Given the height and potential speed of the impacts I...

Re: Janek injured again

How many riders achieve their 15 minutes of fame by doing something absolutely retarded/dangerous to get that sponsorship in the first place? Unfortunately this is very true, and it is probably going to take a fatality of a pro rider in a big event to make people realize there is a price to be paid...

I totally agree that event organisers and the sport in general needs to look at the risk pro riders are being asked to take in big air events. I would not be at all surprised if The impact from crashes in high altitude, high speed moves does not lead to long term brain injury in pro riders. I have s...

Re: Janek injured again

Hopefully he will make a recovery. I am not a medical expert but I would not be surprised if this was not a career ending injury.

Re: Rhodes, North coast (Greek island) advice

I went On holiday here a few years ago and did some windsurfing. Wind was very consistent on some beaches with thermals that seemed to switch on like clock work with a force 4 to 5 in the afternoon. From what i remember the beaches were quite small and very busy with tourists so landing and launchin...

Re: Are Shinn boards that good

It is probably a matter of preference. But having owned a Shinn Monk and a Shinnster I would say they were on a different level to other boards from other brands I have owned. Mark Shinn might be the best board designer in the industry when it comes to knowing what the vast majority of kitesurfers n...

Re: Help me understand the kite dealer business

1. Yes. You would be shocked at what the dealers are paying for the equipment - 40% - 60% of what you see on the website is common. So if they throw in a 20% or even a 30% discount there is still room for the dealer to make money - providing their overhead is reasonable. Is that 40-60% after Sales ...

Re: Letting Go of Kite to Save Your Life

Released a 10m eclipse thruster when hit by a 40 knot squall. Probably one of the best decisions i ever made. Informed the coast guard incase some one reported a kite was washed up. Was also concerned the kite would blow onto land and get wrapped about someone. And? Ever recovered? No i think it mi...
