Re: Self launch device

with any tethered launch: always! keep contact with a centerline when moving from the kite back to the bar, so that you can disable and control the kite when unexpected things happen (tether breaks free, kite falls back, line hooks around bar or wingtip, drunk lady, whatever.) way too many lost kite...

Re: New 2015 naish pivot?

naish pivot = blade trigger pr i i i t ty similar. just thought i'd throw that out there considering the massive amount of posting revolving around this topic. they are the same shape, same family of kite, and i bet we will see another one or two of this design emerge from the other brands. its a re...

Re: different kite line types.

its a good question. I like the style on the left. I use bars that come with the style on the right (750 and 550lbs) with no major issues they don't seem to wear out unduly fast or anything. I still like the kind on the left better tho. there are a lot of differences lines are actually pretty compli...

Re: How much wind is too much wind?

I don't care how windy it is out there as long as there is a good wind shadow on the beach. if no wind shadow on the beach then its too windy at anything that endangers my open beer, chair, or tent, or otherwise makes life difficult....so about 18mph is my limit in that case.

Re: Instructional Video: How to Drift Launch Your Kite

in a high wind environment it is highly possible that the LE will lift and the kite tumble downwind. not every time, not even a majority of the time, but it can and will once in a while. also, line tangle is sometimes not noticeable until the kite is already part way drifting out. the line tangle th...

Re: F one release b7

kites and bars are different and unrelated things. a kites performance on a double centerline leash like your fone bar is related to the canopy shape and bridle configuration of the kite, a bar with a single centerline leash system will flag your kite out and disable it effectively every time. kites...

Re: relentless

there is a little confusion about the population here. the vast majority of people here in the summer live within a 6hr radius. the lower rio grande valley (which SPI is part of), as well as northern mexico, is home to lots of people that come here regularly. san Antonio and Austin are less than 5 h...

Re: relentless

population base is fairly large here. there are about 100000 hotel rooms and condo rental beds etc on SPI is what I have been told, island is mostly full this time of year. tandem rides might actually be a great idea. its weird having spent so much time in places where tons of people are extremely i...
