Re: Shinn boards?

Yes Mike I know that the width is more important than the lenght. I just thought it was strange that the lenght goes up lineair with the width untill size 130 and then goes up to 135 for the 42 and then stays 135 for the 44. But they probably have their reasons. As I understood, all widths were to ...

Re: Shinn boards?

Does anyone know if the duke is available?and any feedback, prices, etc?? Duke has finally been ordered. We expect a small sample delivery in the UK around Christmas. I have not ridden the final production boards, but I do have a custom board from the shaper himself and it's the only surfboard I wi...

Re: Shinn boards?

Width info.. http://www.shinnworld.com/einstein.html which explains the maths; on a 130x40cm board 2cm increase on the length is an overall surface area increase of 80cm2 on a 130x40cm board 2cm increase on the width is an overall surface area increase of 260cm2 and from Shinn; "Choosing your size. ...

Re: Shinn boards?

Isn't that a bit stange? Shouldn't the 42 has to be more like a 133? Please don't think that the length of the board has any real effect on the size; one or two centimeters on the very end of the board has virtually no effect on the feel or performance... If I gave you a 130x40 and a 130x42 there w...

Re: Shinn boards?

by the way Mike, what size would you recommend for a 68kg rider (me!)? I would usually go for the 40 cm width ... but I still have in mind this review explaining that those boards were more for "heavy" riders otherwise you couldn't benefit of all their characteristics ... so maybe I could go for a ...

Re: Shinn boards?

Probably a question for Mr Shinn...

But I suspect that the answer would sound something like "does it matter?" :-)

Re: Shinn boards?

What's the difference in choppy conditions, gusty wind, low-end, jumping and easy landing? If you are talking new luigi (as seen in the video) and the Monk, well the monk feels very similar but has more drive. When the power comes in and you push hard on the monk it drives; it has much more speed a...

Re: Shinn boards?

The Monk is a sensational board - I have been in the industry for 12 years and I have never been so impressed with a twin tip before.. It's not a hardcore expert only board, or a "perfect conditions - perfect session" board, the most impressive thing about the Monk is just how good it is in the wors...

Re: New UK based kiteboard brand called Juice

I appreciate your post, there is no right and wrong way in length, both have positive and negative attributes. Longer boards are better for freestyle, they are more stable in take off and landings, as well as accommodating wider stances, so for the hardcore freestyle riders they are better.... For t...

Re: New UK based kiteboard brand called Juice

Thanks J,
Getting some very good feedback allround - extremely high level riders down to early intermediates. I think that in all honesty a good kiteboard is a good kiteboard, regardless of rider standard!
