Re: What don't you like about foiling.

Ditto what Ozbungy said about the low end of the wind range, but I've learned my lesson a few times since having to do the swim of shame back to the beach. Another dislike is the intense face plants when your screaming on a reach and all hell breaks loose. I keep telling myself the good out weighs t...

Re: Flysurfer sonic vs Flysurfer sped 5

Thanks Jzh for the reply. I'll probably make a decision in the next couple of weeks.I like to have speed in the turns to beat the wave from closing out and crashing on me.It sounds like both kites turn on a dime as long as your in the sweet spot or power zone of the wind. May you have good foiling f...

Flysurfer sonic vs Flysurfer sped 5

Does anyone have any advice on which kite would be better suited for my foilboard. My not into racing but thrive on catching waves and doing downwinders. I'm looking for a 11m to complete my quiver. I know the sonics are primarily race kites but I've heard they turn so fast I thought they might be g...

Re: Downwind with swell speed control.

I too have been trying to work on riding the wave more instead of out running it. I've found if I drop in on the wave set I will immediately carve to toe side with the foil board to slow my speed and then at the bottom ,carve hard to heel side to reengage the wave set before it closes out. It's work...

Re: How is your local scene ?

Made the commitment to work on foiling since this summer. At our local beach there's 5 of us on a regular basis that kite.
1- foiler( myself)
3-wave riders, with one learning to foil
1-TT/ who's learning wave riding
We get the occasional vacationers that drop by to kite.

Re: Do you use any other light wind boards once you start hydrofoiling?

All about WX conditions for what style of riding for me, for example out of 31 days in July I kited 22 ( 4 kitesurfing on my directional and 18 on my LF foil fish ) The light winds of summer have opened up so many more days to enjoy the sport we all love.

Re: Going from Short mast to full size

I also have the LF long mast and recently switched to a smaller SS mast (24") to work on jibes . This has helped a lot to complete a toe side turn.Once I change the mast back I'll check and see what your describing.

Re: How many come from TT riding (only) ?

I likewise come from a waterman background, sailing for 40+ yrs. when I began kiting and starting out on the TT I quickly transitioned to kitesurfing searching for any means to ride a wave. Now that I'm learning to foil it adds a whole new dimension to the sport and definitely keeps the stoke alive....

Re: KISS summary of things that worked for my first tacks

All very good points to achieve that ultimate feeling of riding 1m above the water. It's hard enough to time the right wx conditions to help ones progression in this sport. What's exciting about this element of kiteboarding is the intensity it brings back to this sport. It's keeps the stoke alive !
