Re: Need help understanding Kiteloops

That's right, and then there's also the fact that, because of more drag, a sheeted-in kite is limited to lower relative wind speeds during the loop (it would travel slower even if the radius was the same, which isn't) that is also very true. kite speed has a lot to do with creating power (almost ev...

Re: Need help understanding Kiteloops

Appreciate you taking the time to post this info, quite helpful. You obviously approach this sport analytically...likewise I'm sure. I need to learn loops as a functional move in light winds and in surf. Not really that interested in the jumping side, but that's a fun bonus. I can do downloop trans...

Re: Need help understanding Kiteloops

this probably isn't what you are looking for, but it is a contribution for beginner kite loopers (that are probably not trying to get hucked, yet)

Re: tethered launch vs "stationary" object

I dont leave my kite Long tethered, just Long enough to change boards etc.....2 mins max.... ya that's exactly what we are saying don't do. sometime your kite is going to fall over backwards, roll and hot launch, or bounce and tangle an outside line around the bar end or catch a line on a wingtip (...

Re: tethered launch vs "stationary" object

yes, disabling the kite as a tethered launch goes bad by holding 1 centerline and running a few steps back toward the bar is definitely advised. its not hard, and can be done in the most extreme conditions, and if you as an individual don't think you can do what is necessary to deal responsibly with...

Re: tethered launch vs "stationary" object

that not funny, its why you keep a hand on a centerline when your moving between the kite and bar, dumbass.

normal kite power is enough to toss a picnic table, or a lifeguard stand, or drag the back of a car around 90 degrees,.

Re: US - December ?

more likely to be cool / cold and gray skies. tropical feel basically gone at that point, but good riding. Big N winds blowing 2-4 days then a few days off before the next. warm / hot south wind in between possible but less likely than in spring and fall. lots of good surf riding highly likely. late...

Re: US - December ?

Texas is where you want to be. South Padre is PRIME in December, look at wind stats on ikitesurf, lots of surf, we've been overhead side off 5 days in the last 8, its been good. (and flatwater is here everyday, of course. no suit is totally possible in December, 4 of the last 6 xmas's have been no w...

Re: Why you should read forums and pay attention to accident

good topic. good instructors do pay attention to this kind of thing. we see this leash "mistake" at PROKITE SOUTH PADRE constantly. its not just instructors, it is also shop employee and manufacturer responsibility to pass quality information to riders. people will make their own decisions regarding...
