Re: 5th line on a light-wind kite in marginal conditions?

but when the kite gets to the edge of the window, the kiter purposely "trips" the kite, so that the kite rotates and 'falls' onto its back. The kite is then controled from falling too far onto its "back" ( the topside of the canopy), by use of the 5th line. The kite is then allowed to 'drift' into ...

5th line on a light-wind kite in marginal conditions?

Does it make sense to rig one up? I'm talking about all the 15-19m light-wind and race-dedicated LEI kites that have become popular in the last couple years. With the explosion of raceboard and freerace riding, more and more people will encounter the following situation: Powered riding in 10+ knot c...

Re: Canon telephoto lens for kiting?

Just wanted to update my own thread. I found a smoking deal on a barely-used 70-300mm L just after I sold my 70-200mm Sigma 2.8. Great travel/kite/surf lens! Packs short which is great for getting in a small top-loader/holster bag. It's thick and resembles a sawed-off shotgun. IS is great, sharpness...

Re: Raceboard - How the hell do I ride this thing??

I've just been getting more accustomed to my new-to-me Naish 2011 Venturi 183 after about 1.5 seasons riding my Sector 60 (sold, will be replaced with V3 54 Sector). My first experience on a raceboard was on the 2011 Cabrinha 183, where I demoed it from the local shop setup on the beach, and was pro...

Re: How small can a FS kite pack down for travel?

i use ones like this . You can stick the kite in, close the zip-lock, then open up the vent, lay down on the kite, and your weight will force the air out. Then you can cap up the vent and you'll have yourself a kite burrito. i had made a kitepump-to-vacuum bag adapter for travel, but found this way ...

Re: How to practise kiteloops in a safe way?

I agree with strapless surfboard. Send it, leave the board behind, loop it fast at the top of the window, and enjoy the enema. Don't hesitate halfway! If you don't come around completely there will be consequences!

Re: Nobile Click'N'Go System - An Innovation

Is there something like this for tuttle boxes that could be used for QR for raceboard fins? I'm losing out on room in my car taking my beast around.

Re: How small can a FS kite pack down for travel?

I have a 12m serial speed 3 and remove the bar/lines before i usually pack it for airplane travel. The bar really limits how small I can squeeze the vacuum bag. Make sure to larkshead the power/brake lines together to keep the bridles in check. And of course don't lose the ELC connectors. How small?...
