Re: What has actually changed in the sport since 2008

mostly small stuff, but they add up to a better experience kiting...here are some I can think of... Pumps have a new gasket that makes it way easier to pump, and combined with large inflation valve, makes it a breeze to pump up kites. Very few, if any, 9 mm pool toy valves on new kites these days Mo...

Re: Best buys Bow Patent...what does it mean for small brand

plummet, googling around I found this from Bloomberg from 2008 if it's accurate, they were getting 12 Euros a kite that used their patent if half the kites sold that year and later actually paid royalties, I think its safe to say they've "invoiced" millions over the years. Being owed the money and g...

Re: Best buys Bow Patent...what does it mean for small brand

I agree Faxie, the only real obvious concave trailing edge to my eye is the Slingshot Rally. All my current kites, while spoken of as "bows", really aren't bows based on the TE concave definition. There must be other claims in the patent that Best wanted FLandOBX, the patent refers to the projection...

FWIW here's a picture of a 2015 cab switchblade from the top of the kite
to my eyes, not concave on the trailing edge...so I'm guessing this one doesn't pay royalties?

Re: 2014 Cabrinha bar advice?

expect the cab 2014 center lines to elongate by some 4-5 inches once given good use solution is to stretch the steering lines to match the center lines or, have fun wasting time trying to loosen the knots on the line adjusters, only to find that they don't adjust enough and you still have to stretch...

Re: How accurate are Carribean forecasting tools >4 days out

For the Caribbean, I think windyty (which is a graphical representation of the GFS forecast model) is accurate 4 days out, way more accurate than, say, the GFS around S. Florida. The trade winds are not a local weather condition, they span the Atlantic right into the Caribbean. They blow consistentl...

Re: Hey Guys Kindly Tell me your Opinion About this!!!

Hard to make out the "i" in the word "kiter" from the kiter who is taking place of the "i" - he looks more like an "A" Obviously, we all know what you mean, but at a glance, someone who knows nothing about Kiting might read "Natural Born Kater"? just sayin' I like kiter apparel, seems there isn't en...

Re: Kitesurf Key West ThanksGiving

Shift to the NE seems to have started - the screen shot below is as of 8:54 pm Eastern for the Keys... We might get lucky and have it go far enough east for Curry or Annes by Friday? I hope, might head on down. (screen shot from windonthewater.com) ScreenHunter_04 Nov. 26 20.53.jpg Pay attention to ...

Re: How to shorten control bar reach for smaller arms?

I think Herbert nailed it - and maybe another poster, didn't read everything in detail If you are in the 'poop' position and the kite is trimmed properly (good power) you want to maintain that trim but want to sheet in the bar to rectify the body position but if you sheet in the bar you choke the ki...

Mysteries of wind range charts

Its been discussed before on this forum that kite manufacturers make kites bigger over the years, so a 12m one year is a bigger canopy than the exact model/size last year. I think the Switchblade wind range charts could be evidence of exactly that. For 2015, by Cabs recommendations, the 12m is now b...
