Ok, lets start by using sailing dinghys as an example. A terrific Sea-boat but poor in chop is the International Fireball. This boat is flat almost, with a flat front, when you sail through the sea you have to cope with the chop and it slows you down. Now look at a dinghy with a straight stem that c...

Re: Beginner kite

As a two year kiter , why should I go to a Rebel kite ? My comment refers to SLE type kites rather than just the Rebel, if you have adapted to 'C' type kites then there may not be any benefit though as a convert I find that hard to believe. If you ride on flat water or chop the benefit of more de-p...

when I just piled a few handfuls of sand on the bows I tested, when self launch, without folding tip, they come up just fine. Just shake the sand of while in the air. No bag needed. No running to the bar. The kite also does not scrape along the beach/ rocks...it just comes up when you pull on the b...

Ok, but. Somewhere down the line, way back, maybe even a year ago a thread started relating to the stress on the bladder when you fold. Someone found that the bladder gradually attained a level of weakness around the fold area. In this case his view was proven by inspecting the bladders of a number ...

Ah-yes, I noticed Naish had considered this a problem. As regards folding the tip on a bow, if you pump them hard enough to fly correctly you won't fold them to stay folded. I have played with a bag-full of sand on the beach, clipped my leash to the bag but unless the wind is very steady this can be...

Bow-Kite leading edge. Again-again.

Seems I must be the only rider in the world to have this problem, because I mostly always self launch and land I'm scrubbing the stitches at the section joints in 3 places. Because I always launch/land to port-side fortunately it only effects the one side of the kite. Why-Oh-why can't manufacturers ...

To-right, presumably it's just a bit of fun and perceived views, who amongst you have flown/experienced so many of these brands that you can pidgin-hole them.

Takoon= Citreon for example. I'm offended. :(

I have some old marine foils (Concept-Air) that are in such condition I get them out once a year for a Retro-Day. No de-Power at all, just hang on or release to the back line, re-launch is hot-hot-hot and very-very exciting.

Only if you are man-enough. :lol:

Just go and buy yourself a 'Bow-kite" Ok, if you hang around then prices will settle down but what about all the fun you are missing out on? Particularly for those of us that never fully adapted to hanging on and controlling a classic LEI when the gust speeds start to hit double numbers, bow kites a...

Hi, DSQ. Sorry, I lost the plot a little. What I am saying (Probably more acurate than my previous claim) is that I find I can change kites in 4 mph increments and for my experience at the moment (I think novice) I cannot manage a 6 mph wind range with any one kite. Now this has to do with me being ...
