Re: Shoulder pains flying small peaks

Maybe the distance and angle at which you hold full power does not fit and that makes your shoulder cramp up. I have had a problem with my arm when I had the powered up distance too close to my body. You could try either putting a rope loop in between your harness and the QR or you extend the spread...

Re: How do you glide?

Peaks should be fine, unless the hill is too flat. Higher aspect kites will have less drag and more lift, so you can glide without loosing much height. Where I kite that does not matter, because it is steep enough, but in some areas the hills are not steep enough then you need a large race kite to g...

Re: How do you glide?

My biggest kite is a 12m and at 80kg I can glide in wind so light, it almost doesn’t stay in the air:

Re: How do you glide?

Just find a hill with deep snow and wind that goes up that hill. Power fully and ride down the hill, when you lift off depower to stay close to the hill. I would not fly far from the ground because at the beginning you will probably spin out a couple of times. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEQ5X2R...

Re: Breuil-Cervinia Valtournenche

I have not been but the guy on this video is on Breithorn plateau at the end of Grenzlift of this ski resort. It looks awesome, but keep in mind that this is a glacier and if you check the area on google earth you can see the crevasses which will be covered (a little) by snow in winter. https://m.yo...

Re: Guadeloupe Info

When I was there, quite a few years ago, 15 at a guess. Some guy tried telling me kiting wasn't permitted on the beach I was on. After a while I got him to talk, turns out he was a kiteschool owner and didn't want me there as I was not flying the brand he sold, and was concerned his students might ...

Re: (European) car for kitesurfing?

Volkswagen Caddy Maxi fits everything. I just throw my skis in the back without folding the backbench and keep my kites in there all year long just in case. A ski holiday with six people was no problem with it, plus it fits into the narrow driveway of the old building I live in.

Re: Snow kiting in Les Menuires (3 valleys)

Area from the picture is as per below. It doesnt look that steep on picture itself, but map shows otherwise. Cool map btw. Is ther online version anywhere? The app is called bergfex tours. It has an option to download maps for places without connection. It also lets you estimate hiking times. For e...

Re: Snow kiting in Les Menuires (3 valleys)

This area here? I have not been, but it looks good, I would go. No areas over 30 degrees, so avalanches are unlikely. NW wind would be good.

Re: Snowkiting Harnesses Recomendations

Touring skis or split board just depends on how you like to ride. But I would not kite around in deep snow without something to skin back to the car with. Snowshoes in a backpack work too. A tree climbing harness like Petzl sequoia is great because the rope bridge distributes the load evenly and doe...
