Re: Long mast - is it a con?

Quick question. Are the smaller wings quicker once you are up and riding but need more pull to waterstart? How does their maneuverability compare? Smaller wings need more speed to get flying, so you may need a kite size bigger to get going. They also aren’t suited to small boards, as a small board ...

Re: Slingshot UFO V3

I can't understand very well why foilers have concern about kites for stronger winds. My undestanding is that any kite would work in stronger winds. Small 3 strut surf kites work just fine for back and forth foiling, but horrible as soon as you chase some swell. They are just too heavy for their si...

Re: Slingshot UFO V3

… And the UFO cannot be landed alone easily, it would never stay aground. This needs some attention also to avoid the kite to launch uncontrolled when lying on the beach. Always needs a lot of sand on it right behind the front tube. Otherwise it will quickly fly away unintended. Once you´re on the ...

Re: Wingfoiling learning process

I can second the advice on booties to prevent toe wear. I've found a long leg wetsuit helps with knee wear as well. I learned the hard way...... After skipping most of our winter with learning, I'm finally up and riding on the wing foil after a good 24knot session (75ltr board, 4.5m wing). I was st...

Re: Cloud vs UFO

And a rather large point of difference between the UFO and Cloud, the Cloud is unavailable for purchase to most of the world, where the UFO is available everywhere.

As they have similar flying characteristics most of us end up on UFO’s.

Re: Flysurfer Peak 5

I rarely if ever dropped my peaks when riding normally or swell riding, but I did when learning new stuff. Tack practice resulted in most of my swims, and eventually pushed me to Clouds. The Peak can turn so bloody fast any incorrect input and the thing is swimming. So if your yet to move into tacki...

Re: North Code 2024 help

I haven’t used the code but the 10.4 Cloud can be a prick to relaunch in the light stuff. I only use Clouds up to an 8mtr, after that I move to a 10mtr Gin Spirit.

Re: Flysurfer Peak

Look at your coastline, are you happy to swim ashore at any point? Peaks work well when you have nice open beaches to swim into, rocky headlands or shorelines are no fun. I loved my Peak, brilliant drift and fun to use. But after too many swims and subsequent foil repairs from rocks after swim ins ...

Re: Flysurfer Peak

Sorry, I have loads of GPS tracks, but cant see any reason to use these to "show" the Peak advantages. Then something is off... here my tracks with Single Strut 5m kite... it drifts very well, I am just may be experienced enough to take make 20% of it's abilities... pretty much run upwind and then ...

Re: Foil - fuselage material

The most load on a foil on the fuselage between the rear of the front wing and front of the mast. It’s a huge twisting force, especially with the larger front wings foilers are using. Carbon fuselages tend to be thick in this area to take the load and even then can crack and fail. Much easier to pro...
