Pay attention to the caution:
“When trimmed close this knot should never be used for critical loads.”

Re: clamcleat for bar, joke?

look in the corner of the drawing - its dated Jul 2005. In that era the cabrinha bar had a "hook" feature that would hold them fully powered. Not sure about other bars. I made a half-hearted attempt to kite back in 2005 and ended up waiting till 2009 when things had matured a bit. This was an early ...

Re: Mach flott den Schrott: Good ideas for self made bars

My bar I’m using (mostly but not only) for foiling on my 10m. Started life as the bar far 2008 F1 bandit 9m. Uses Infexion QR Depower line is spliced below the cleat so it is easily replaceable - sorry can’t recall whose good idea that was. Has a 3:1 depower which I really used to like when I was us...

Re: Bar and Line Maintenance

Unfortunately, a lot of the gear is not recyclable. Also follow up, does anyone recycle old kite lines or does it all go into the landfills? I have over 100' of old kite line that I use bits for anything "string related" I'm using it for staking a few trees we planted & I'm getting ready to string ...

Re: Double braid yes or no?

I used to use double braid for depower lines, but no more. First I think they are overkill from weight perspective. Second is you have to be very careful how you finish off and bury the cover at the bar end, otherwise it can catch when you try to release (ask me how I found this out!!!) I do have a ...

Re: Depower rope WTF

My perspective on game changers- maybe should be a new thread? Infexion’s release- I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I have an extra 6 inches of bar travel. Almost never use trim strap now when I used to use it almost constantly. Ocean Rodeo’s dry suits with horse collar entry - huge improvemen...

Re: wind proof top for wetsuit recommendations

I’ve used this for years - it is very thin, windproof and durable.

Def pricey but it will last years and years. Made for laser and skiff sailing in winter and cold water-where you get really wet and are out in stiff breeze

Re: what is in your opinion the best light wind kite for TT

Agree with above - 17m are for old fat guys like me. You should be looking at 14-15m. I wouldn't be too afraid of the new lighter light wind kites unless you plan to really stress it out riding a lot at the upper end of its wind range. Manufacturers have just tuned designs over the years to the wind...

Re: How Long Does A Harness Last

With zero maintenance & lots of sand - but only 50-70 sessions a year, after 7 years my harness straps are showing some wear.
