Re: Difference between pitch and angle of attack

As Peter says pitch is the angle relative to a geometric reference& for kites it makes most sense to use a line from middle of bar to center front of the kite - now the only way to change pitch is by sheeting the bar in and out Again as Peter says - Angle of Attack is angle of kite compared to a lin...

Re: Removing Bar pulleys from Contra?

Matt - I was thinking to start with I would tie off the bridle at the last pulley before the steering line attaches, then run the steering line straight to the tip of the kite (adjusting lengths of course) Is this what you did? Oh and wait for a very light wind day to try it - the 17m contra is no F...

It's not the upper 30's but the low 30's that's the problem.

Removing Bar pulleys from Contra?

Anyone tried modifying a Contra bridle to run the steering lines direct to bar instead of using the pulleys? I was out in light winds today and after an hour my arms are killing me!

Re: cold water gloves revisted

I have used for many years the following combination. An inner fleece glove, that varies depending on the conditions An outer windproof shell glove. Even when the fleece gets wet my hands don't get the biting cold they always did before I went to this combination. I use it snowboarding, sailing, bik...

Re: splicing line question

Hi Patrick, yes thank-you its going to save me about $180! Besides I've sailed for years and been curious to learn this. I still have a question - when splicing the lines you used about a 2" tail. The tail looks longer in the loop example but I am guessing this is not the case? Is there any sort of ...

Re: splicing line question

The problem I have is with Step 8 on the basic loop. If I have already formed a loop in one end of the line then when making the 2nd loop I will have to pull the entire line back through, including the loop at the end. I guess if I work the opening a little I could make enough room, I'll try it. As ...

splicing line question

I want to splice loops into the end of kite lines. The guide I found is this one (ordered the fid shown and it works excellent) http://kiteracing.com/Splicing_Lines.html The guide has you pulling the long end of the line all the way through. So this will work for forming a loop in one end, but I'm n...

Re: Need a Big, not to ugly Helmet

talk to shred ready. I have a very hard head to fit and theirs worked great. You'll have to make your own decision on the degree of ugliness

waist harness for a 200 lb weakling :)

Ok all you 200 lb weaklings out there - what is a comfortable waist harness? Or seat harness if that is the consensus. I've finally worn out my 4 yr old cabrinha seat harness.
