Re: Nice overview on foil kites

^^Have you even flown a single skin foilholio? I have flown the Marabou 12 against Soul 12 - only on land with marginal wind. And I found Soul 12 equal if not better in terms of power and staying in the air. I don't think that single skins are better for marginal wind (below 5/6 knots). I have now ...

Re: Nice overview on foil kites

Gin currently offers the Marabou in their active product line. The video of Sans is not much of a video. No discussion of any details in terms of conditions, what was under his feet or bar set up. If he was on a 9m and it produced no power, something wasnt right. His only input was his opinion that ...

Re: Ultralight vs standard foil kite degradation

FWIW all my kiting is in winter. So solar degradation is minimal. In my world, UL fabric tends to hold up very similarly to standard unless you snag it on an ice shard or some similar mishap. I will be more gentle with UL but it is surprisingly durable. As stated above, a foil well cared for will la...

Re: Wings work on snow?

Nice video Hardwaterkiting! I think wings can't replace kites in light wind for example, but sometimes they can save your session, like in dense fog where you can't actually see where your kite is (my yesterday snowkite session  ). I think every piece of gear that can save you a kite session a...

Re: Wings work on snow?

LOL oh okay then. SMH. Been told a lot of things can't over the years. Most of those people never actually tried any of it ot lacked the skill or nerve to do so. Most of them were wrong. We'll just have to wait and see. I have windwing /cabrinha/ had kitewing and used them together with kites both ...

Re: Wings work on snow?

I havent done deep snow yet. But my bet is it will be much like the kite in that you will need to be sure you have the right gear in your feet for th conditions. Im guessing that being unable the throw a big power stroke to get started, is where the challenge for deep snow lies. But big fat powder p...

Re: Wings work on snow?

By the way, if you know how to edge and actually have power, your tips rarely come close to touching.

Re: Wings work on snow?

I've been riding the Ozone WASP on snow and its suprisingly fun. Better than I would have expected. The arm pump after long sessions is considerable. Making a harness line is not a big deal tho. I like the inflatos vs. rigid frames as inflatos are light, fast to put together and don't break in a cra...

Re: When you swim in with your foil kite in the winter and it's soaked.

Fly dry it first, that will get 90% of it. After that, loosely piled up indoors in warm rooms will finish it. You have to shuffle it around every 30 min or so to get warm air to all the spots but it will dry out.
