Re: My first sessions with the Flysurfer Soul 12, a short video

Hi Carlo,

Is the Flysurfer Soul easy enough to handle for beginner-intermediate ?

Also, I was wondering if the water relaunch that flysurfer is claiming is true. I still can't believe water cannot seep into the kite openings making it un-relaunchable.

Thanks.

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

If the main communication from your instructors was ‘your board skills are bad’; It was your instructors that were bad. That is not really helpful information. So maybe it wasn’t/isn’t your skills that are lacking. Just go spend more time on whatever bigger gear you have around and it will come tog...

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

From what I understand, the conflict here in this thread is that : 1. Pro-Big-Board guys: You need bigger wider board for the surface area to get going. But.... 2. Anti-Big board guys: On the Contrary, the wider boards are tougher to edge. Both statements are true. That is the very definition of "t...

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

Agreed. Wide boards require a lot of pressure to hold an edge. Learning to ride a TT is all about edging. Through an unusual set of circumstances, I acquired a Slingshot Glide. Not my intention to buy a 'door' type TT board, but I've come to appreciate the Glide's design of being long, straight and...

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

This below video explaining the 'surface area' advantage of door board: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzpViLdWqYk Unfortunately the video is missing an explanation of the VARIABILITY of wetted surface (in contact with the water, providing planing forces). This variability occurs due to wind speed...

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

The 149cm SS Glides of the first years have 46cm width and wery little rocker compared to almost all other Lightwind boards, change wery small fins for bigger ones on the heelside and ride it without fins on the toeside to make it faster, you will love it. (The newer Glide is long and narrow with m...

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

Thanks for all your suggestions everyone. Seems like I would certainly want to stick to the "wider" boards either way, because we do not always have those consistent winds on the lakes, especially MN lakes are surrounded by heavy trees. So with all due respect, I would rule the Slingshot Glide out. ...

Re: Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

Thanks GJibb. I will try out both kinds of boards myself before making the decision. But seems like OverDrive will suffice. But given that you were suggesting a bigger kite: most people (instructors, lot of KF folks, Slingshot customer care themselves) were all suggesting 12m should suffice. So for ...

Beginner Board Advice: Door vs Regular Large

Hello All, Need some advice with buying first Board. Rider Profile: Beginner, 200 lbs. Wind Conditions: Minnesota Lakes, Average wind (maybe 14-19mph mostly)..lot of you might consider this LightWind. Water conditions: Since it is lake and we are talking not so high winds, I am guessing we can assum...
