Re: Kiteboarding practice from a boat

Nice work. Take a look at this method I use to drift launch in deep water. It might work well for you.

Re: More lake kiting questions

I was thinking I should always go with my largest board for the lulls. I figured a bigger board and smaller kite would give a better range than a bigger kite and smaller board. I certainly agree that a bigger board and smaller kite is the best way to go, but in on and off winds when you are using a...

Re: More lake kiting questions

Yea. I think all of us lake kiters deal with the fact that winds on an inland lake are going to be very on an off. That and the fact that wind forecast are not nearly as accurate as they are in coastal areas. It is just difficult to pick the right size kite on any given day to keep it in the air dur...

Re: Learning foiling behind a boat

For me I would say yes. The 6 sessions I got prior to getting to kite with the foil made the feel of the board more predictable and gave me a little bit of muscle memory for what to do. With no wind, it was definitely worth the effort. Besides that, it is fun. Probably not as fun as it eventually wi...

Re: Learning foiling behind a boat

After my 6th session foiling behind the Seadoo, I got a couple of chances to kite with the foil in very light wind. The first time I got to use the kite, I got one descent pull and rode for about 50 yards then the wind died. Although that sucked, I did learn that at my level, struggling to keep the ...

Re: Learning foiling behind a boat

Here is a shot from a GoPro on the ski rope. It did not work very well for video. As you can see, there is very little wake behind the PWC.

Re: Learning foiling behind a boat

The Seadoo (or any PWC) really helps with the wake issue. The wake is negligible behind a PWC. I have an 18ft bowrider boat that I could use, but at 7 to 10kts, it creates a huge wake (even trimmed out) which is difficult to deal with for us foil newbys. Maybe once I'm good at this it will be fun to...

Re: Epic Renegade Infinity anyone?

The guy on a 14m is a solid kiter and has been kiting for well over 5 years. He is lighter than me by prob 5lbs, maybe the same. Woo is quite a bit accurate - plenty of 15, 16 and 17 ft jumps on that session. Over 100 sessions on the woo since last year and it seems pretty close. Overall, it doesn'...

Re: Epic Renegade Infinity anyone?

Been flying my Infinity V2 for about 4 years now, on my second set of bladders, and the kite is still in great shape. I have no trouble believing that someone got a 17ft jump on a standard 8 to 12kt day when someone else might have trouble flying a 14m. The Infinity is a fun and fast big kite. There...

Re: Learning foiling behind a boat

Probably about 6 or 7 hours practicing behind the Seadoo. I haven't had wind here to try it with a kite yet. There was some wind here while I was travelling for work, but I was in OBX having fun on my twintips :D so it wasn't a total loss. (didn't have room to take the foil with me on that trip). La...
