Jules 46 you mentioned SailKote. SailKote should definitely help. I have been using it for years on all types of rope and lines including the bridle lines on my 3 yr old contra. It definitely reduces wear, I also use it on my pulleys. would recommend everyone use this to extend the life of your lines.

Check out a Kokatat, they are gore-tex and 100% waterproof, they are front entry and can be ordered with gore-tex socks sewn on and a relief zipper.
