Hawaii's: Thanks you. It's the 4.5. I beg to differ. I agree it is high AR, but they call it "XLP" for Extra Large Program meaning it is ok for beginners. Maybe not the easiest to learn on, but hopefully ok. The builder tells me you need about 12 knots to lift off. cglazier: Thanks. This is what I'm...
OK, not much wind around here these days. I've got an Alpine Foil beginner/freeride wing with the surfboard style board. I can body drag really well, 3 knots, and I can get up and ride the board on both port and starboard tacks with the board on the water for about 0.5 km/0.25 mi pretty comfortably....
Have a look at this for kiting with large kites in very little wind. :jump: They say that sometimes the wind is so light, if they stop foiling or fall, the kite can't stay in the sky. I saw this first on the Foilzone forum under a heading 'Foilboard--totally into it'. http://vimeo.com/65566681
It didn't look to me like he did anything wrong when the kite fell out of the sky. But it did seem like he just about made the relaunch work. If he had given a stronger pull on the center lines maybe it would have left the water. Then, when it flipped over, if he had immediately let go of the front ...
I'm from USA. But the European way sounds like the way to go! But, then again, I'm old, so maybe it's just the young versus old attitude towards life. If only I had a group of friends to get together and go someplace cool to hang out, enjoy kiting and nice wine by a bonfire in the evening, sleep wel...
I bought both the foil and the board from AlpineFoil. I haven't learned to ride it yet. It's winter here. I can only comment on the workmanship. It is very high quality. The finish on the board and the foil parts is very smooth. There are no blemishes or bubbles. Although it took awhile, Damien kept...
I went last year for a week and a half at about this time. Also, I just got back from another trip there about a week and a half ago. The wind is good (15-20, sometimes 10-25!) from about 2-6 p.m. each day, calm in the morning. It starts out maybe NNW-N, then gradually veers to NE increasing in spee...
Yesterday was my first day out on my new hydrofoil. I have the AlpineFoil, board and foil. It's very well built and goes together nicely. All the joints are firm and the finish on the mast, fuselage and wings is very good. :jump: I'm in the Northeast of USA and we had a couple of 40 degree days with...
