Re: HQ kites are a bad joke

I'm glad to hear that, contrary to what the starter of the thread implies in the title, HQ kites are not a joke..I really hope so! I totally own my inexperience, but my disappointment that the kite cannot fly in 4 knts is NOT due to the naïve expectation of a rookie : it is the manufacturer itself t...

Re: HQ kites are a bad joke

I just bought the HQ Hydra 420 trainer and after several unsuccessful ( and so frustrating !) attempts to launch it on land, I begin to think that the title of this thread is justified. First off, the manufacturer's marketing spin, if not deliberately deceptive, which I think it is not, is totally u...

https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=197&t=2402590 Thanks for the link.Unfortunately, I have only a reading understanding of German and I'd be unable to follow the video. Besides, this video, as well as the other one won't play. There seems to be a very lively discussion on this topic between , on...

Re: Full kite deployment in water for safety (and access).

FredBgg, I’d love to try SUK’ing myself. I read your post about deploying the kite directly from the SUP. and I’d like to do the same. The windsurfing spot I usually go on a local lake is very small , with a lot of trees, practically no beach and usually jam-packed with too many kiters and I don’t f...

Re: Trainer Kites: Ocean Rodeo React vs Flysurfer Viron 2 DLX

Marrus and others Thank you all for your input. Very informative. I'm a windsurfer, totally new to kiting and I am excited by the idea . I am neither a speed buff nor an adrenaline seeker. I'd be happy to cruise around with the trainer kite in light winds ( 12-15 knts), but if I am to buy a 2nd kite...

Re: Trainer kite on a paddleboard

Thanks Tomtom"
but could you please decipher the meaning of ' Peak 4" in plain words? I don't have a German Enigma machine and... they hard to come by, 70 years after the end of WW2.

Re: Trainer kite on a paddleboard

Hi I’m considering buying a Hydra II trainer kite, either a 350 or a 420, to cruise in light winds ( 12-15 knots) on my 11 ft Bic Windsup I read the caveats about boards drifting downwind with a kite, but I have a centerboard as well as side thrusters and I have also replaced the original Dolphin fin...

Re: best SUP for super light wind kiting

Kite for the roller-coaster ride, and freedom from having a sail in front of your face all the time. Windsurf for the skill, the accessibility of different locations where you could never launch a kite, and the freedom to go wherever you want on any lake in any wind. Just remember that proper gear,...

Re: Self-teaching

if you want to teach yourself, like i did, only try and error it in LOW wind situation (max 15 knots with a 12 meter, just enough for staying upwind) and be sure that your downwindspace is big enough, with no abstacles... Good luck. In case of doubt: make it a no go, safety first! I am happy to hea...

Re: best SUP for super light wind kiting

EDT I don't have a SUP, but a Windsup. Maybe this can make a difference. It is an 11 ft long Bic Windsup , which I fitted with a longer fin to replace the standard Dolphin fin which was useless. I can easily bank on the rails to control it and it also has a centerboard which helps to go upwind. So ...
