Removing center strut on a kite

I have heard that people tried flying old school C kites without some struts and they fly well, so people removed the struts. Did people just remove the bladder or undo the stitching, and remove the dacron strut to save on weight? A friend gave me a 7m element2 which had a leading to trailing edge t...

Re: Simple short line extensions - is a figure-8 knot ok?

I have done this before with a simple looped overhand hand knot and it's been working fine. I have done this on bridles and as short line extensions.

Lower bar pressure on hybrid/open C (Switch Nitro 3) with no bridle

I was doing some digging online [1] [2] and it seems like MJ and others have ran a hybrid/open C kite as a hard-lined, no-bridle, 5-line kite. Has anyone done with with the Switch Nitro3? I believe people did this for the Nitro 4 but I can't find the configuration online. What did the setup look lik...

Who is the recent "click-in" Chicken Loop Manufacturer?

I know this was discussed in the past (https://kiteforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2390182&start=60), but it seems like there are many brands which are using the same bar design and chicken loop system which makes me believe that it's all designed and make by the same contract manufacturer (or at leas...

Re: Has anyone replaced struts with carbon fiber/fiber glass tent poles?

No need To replace the struts at all. I routinely use an 11m fuel with three struts removed on snow for unhooked riding. I think most true C kites can fly great as 2 strut kites. Could never tell from watching mine fly. What they gain on the bottom end they sacrifice at the top .Just throw it up on...

Has anyone replaced struts with carbon fiber/fiber glass tent poles?

I'm looking to ride C kites for snowkiting as I'm working on unhooked tricks/hitting features. I am blessed with some (2005?) Best Yargas, but the old inflate system isn't working well for the struts (where the valve slowly leak). I don't want to have to fix these old valves because pumping them up ...

Coating to reduce the air permeability in old flysurfers

I have a very UV logged FS 19m which doesn't told air, and flaps when you dive it through the power zone. I learnt about the "kiss test" where can see if air permeates through the canopy, and when you suck the kite, you can feel that air passes through, unlike the new Souls that I tried on the beach...

beginner setup for light winds

Hey all, Been kiting for two years now in various places, but mostly kite now on the great lakes and lake Simcoe in Ontario Canada. I twin tip (prefer to wear boots), and jump and land basic tricks such as backrolls and inverts. When it's >10-12 knots I'm happy to be on my 19m Flysurfer on a twin ti...
