Well, If u pull the bar towards u... you'll tilt the kite backwards (the tail lower). It will lose foreward speed. And since the kite is wing-shaped, it needs the foreward speed to lift u up. The kite will be above you sooner and you're not getting that strange swingback that will make you lose high...
