Re: Cape Town awaits the Euros !!

I wouldn't worry about sharks on the West Coast- water's too friggin' COLD for most of them! They tend to hang about the other side where it;s a bit warmer (Indian Ocean).

Car guards like Euros though :bye:

Re: Kite gear Cape Town

Im not sure I'd agree with the bit about airlines not being so strict! Any chance to fleece you they will do.....

But yes, kite gear will usually be cheaper over there with a fairly weak Rand (depending on where you're coming from).

Re: Holiday in Dec or Jan - Zanzibar or Langebaan?

Can't say I really agree with Langebaan getting super crowded- not with kiters anyway. I've never had a problem with there being too many kiters. Sure, you'll get the learners starting outside of Pearlys and going downwind, but as long as you give them room, there's heaps of space! I always used to ...

Re: My first real self rescue today

I've only ever had to do it once and used the swim-to-kite method. I did get lines around my legs at one point which scared the toast out of me. I think a simple tip would be that if you do decide to use this method, un-holster yer line cutter beforehand and have it ready in your other hand should a...

Re: Western australia warning

Way I see it, we are in their environment blah blah car accidents blah blah blah...... But, if it were a wild Brown Bear or Grizzly taking out walkers/ hikers in any national park etc anywhere in the world, the authorioties would without question track and kill any bear thought to be responsible. Fe...

Re: South Africa season

About an hours drive from Blouberg' to Langebaan. I'd say October thru to March are good, with Dec, Jan, Feb being the strongest winds (it can get up to 35 knts some evenings). I'd avoid late Dec or early Jan as its holiday season, and it's packed! Plus, accoms are more $$$ You'll get away with a sh...

Re: Trouble with self landing

I was shown how to land Naish kites by: Bringing kite slowly to edge of window a few metres above beach Quite sharply steer the kite down towards the beach Just before the kite hits the beach, deploy the safety and the kite should land quite nicely with LE into the wind Pull in some of the yellow sa...

Re: felt static charge while kiting, Shocking!

The material of your bar is irrelevant really as both are very good conductors, and in fact the carbon bar I should imagine would attract charge much easier. Your buddy should take heed and not think he is safer with his composite bar coz carbon is one of the best conductors out there. There's a rea...

Re: Nobile NHP vs Slingshot Misfit

NHP is a full-out pro board. Its very stiff, has some rocker to soften the landings etc. ... all you need from a good board. Yet the dizing is quite odd for me imo. I mean for my 75 kgs 131x40 is a bit too small while I would consider 134x42 a big board. Remember - its both length and width that ma...
