Re: securing kite on field

Your safety is really not the quick kill slider, but the line between the outside lines, Kite should sit when this is attached to the screw. "Should sit" is the keyword here. This is the same line used to backward fly / relaunch a leading edge downed Frenzy/Manta/Access (whichever model). So should...

Re: securing kite on field

I'm surprised no one has mentioned an Ice axe. Overhere we have all kinds of different conditions. This is what I've been using for the last 4 years, and everyone else overhere I might add. I rearly use an ice screw although I have one. Can't be bothered when theres 2 inches of snow covering the ice...

Re: securing kite on field

Flag it on a single line after pulling the safety. Be careful, keep thumbs over the lines to be sure not to wrap any fingers into a loops. So you can ditch the whole lot (worst case scenario). Did that last winter after the wind picked up violently. Sat there with my snowboard edge digging in agains...

Re: 93 knots gusting 266 knots

It's the worst weather we've seen in a long time and this is what the biggest online newspage pulished (gollable me  ). Strange the weather office or the news media hasnt corrected it, cause it'...

Re: 93 knots gusting 266 knots

You're right. Somethings off in these readings. This comes from an automatic windmeter up there in nomans land. Published by the local weather office (news media not messing things up like usual). Geir is a quite normal name in Iceland, and Norway aswell for that matter. Taut.. you're not confusing ...

93 knots gusting 266 knots

93 knots, gusting 266 knots - Nuts ! Has anyone seen readings like that? Snowkiting season overhere now. The reading is from a windmeter up in the highlands. Glad I'm not up there right now - instead in front of the computer drinking beer. Just saw on a local news webpage, the national airport just ...

This is our thing here in Iceland. Gets us to our favorite snowkiting spot on the glacier aswell as those empty remote beaches.

Plenty of gear space on the back.

Hi Charlykite. Just answered you in another post and PM, but reading that you're here for the winter and for everyone else to know about Iceland - here goes. Glaciers - we mostly go on during late spring and summer (after the snow goes away near Reykjavik - easy road access to glacier snowline). Exc...
