bows

I think bow kites will come to dominate the sport. Traditional kites will linger for a few more seasons but I think their time has come. Remember, the Crossbow/Nova is the first modern commercially released iteration of this type of kite and so plenty of refinement will follow. I suspect that any ju...

I think the water flow on the bottom surface is not parallel to the long axis of the board ie not running along the concave but across it. Double concaves would then give the water a bumpy ride from one edge of the board to the other - it might even detach from the board surface at the centerline if...

I broke a front line on my hellfish 11m that day(when most of your ss riders were on 9m's). How nice it was of you all to sit on the bleachers looking to take pictures of a downed rider in the barge lane. Finally, I nice gal helped out (she was riding a crossbow)by grabbing my board while the rest ...

I think the high projected area kites are an important step forward, not a sales ploy. The improvements in safety and riding de-power look real and have a clear technical explanation unlike the "believe us - this is better" that some manufacturers come up with. My prediction is that flatter kites do...

Francis - that sounds like a fair hypothesis to me. The long but shallow wakeboard style fins found on the many kiteboards look a lot like the delta wing shape used to generate controlled vortexes in a number of aero applications. In those cases my understanding is that designers abandon laminar att...

Thanks for the replies. I may not have communicated my idea quite clearly enough. When I suggested trying having fins that weren't parrallel I meant that each end would still have parallel fins, but that each end would point in a slightly different direction. This way when the board is edging both t...

Kite board fin angle

I've been doing a little bit of thinking about kiteboard design recently and I have a question about kiteboarding fins. Kiteboards spend a lot of their time carving hard with the windward rail cutting the water. Further - the water flow over the board appears to exit either at the back edge or oppos...

WA

WA is excellent. Summer is the best time for breeze. Back in the days of pole-boarding I rode every day for 20 days always on sails smaller than 5.5m!! Be sure to check out Lancelin, Geraldton and the less visited spots further north. WA is pretty safe - Australia is a civilised country. As was post...
