Re: Small wing foil for kite foil (sk8, armstrong, ketos...)

I'm in the GoFoil ecosystem and in the over 95kg category. I assume that the hybrid is a bit similar to the Peak in terms of power delivery. I didn't really like the pairing of a Peak with the small GT750. It's obviously great in turns and feel, but it requires a bit too much power at times to get g...

Re: e-Foil Drive Gen 2 ? An honest review & test

I'm sick to F*king death of wing foil getting shoved down my neck by every kite company, pro rider, social media etc on the assumption that hey kite is cancelled and you all love wing now. The hydrofoil section of KITEforum is the last pure refuge of kite foilers. So maybe we could ask (or lobby) T...

Re: Heading Upwind When Not Foiling

Staying on your knees for a long time is tiring, standing up in patchy wind on a wobbly board can also be very tiring, and every time you fall and reset, you lose a fair bit of ground. Sometimes I prefer to just sit on the board, it's slower, but much less effort required, and maximum stability even...

Re: Foilwings and wings used in your country/area

In NZ there's a large majority of Axis, then Armstrong foils. The remainder is scattered among all the other brands.
In terms of wings, lots of Duotone, then PPC, F-One, Armstrong...

Re: Does size matter?

In regards to longer mast being wobbly because of flex; there is no reason a longer mast could not be stiff enough. Get a better mast and/or lose some weight. There are several reasons, drag (thickness, profile), cost, weight. Always a matter of compromise. The "enough" part of "stiff enough" is a ...

Re: Does size matter?

if your mast is not stiff enough, a longer mast will exacerbate this (even more so with large wings, and large riders), and you'll get more wobbles, or more flex which will introduce a bit more unpredictable behaviour in terms of response to your input. Shorter mast will be overall stiffer, with mor...

Re: paddling

I use a wrist leash too, but when I'm paddling I tuck the leash between the board and my tummy so that it's not pulling on my wrist. I also tend to put my feet over the wing to keep it from flipping away.

Re: Stethoscope to detect small leakage?

(...) Are you millionaires? Aren't you??? It's been well established in other posts that it was a prerequisite for getting into kiteboarding! To be fair, a 12m is quite big indeed, and a pain in the ass when it has to share your living arrangements. I'd have to move the drumkit! If you don't have r...

Re: Stethoscope to detect small leakage?

I use a spray bottle and soap to wet the LE / Struts. There's not that much that falls on the floor while doing it inside, and it should not damage your floorboards! Once general area is identified, a thorough eyeballing of the bladder in that area is typically enough to find the hole(s). Look for a...

Re: Rant alert! my god! who the hell can afford kite equipment

I'd love to see some brands open source old kite designs and allow other companies to use the plans for their own kites. Like Linux - you could have local kite maker makes the "Open Source - North Orbit 2020 model" ..... I know it'll never happen. But just imagine! Like all the old North Rebel 5 li...
