Re: Wetsuit recommendation Cape Town Nov/Dec?

Upwelling happens whenever the south easter blows hard, and is especially noticeable after a multi day wind spell. But with the fairly high air temperature in summer, the cold water temperature is not really a problem unless you spend a lot of time off your board. Your 4.3 will work just fine, but i...

Re: 2010 Cabrinha Bar Centerline Sleeve Cracked/Broken

If you want to keep using that bar and it has seen alot of use you should change (or at least check for wear) the centerline. I have broken the centerline on two of my much newer Cab bars (2014 and 2015). The tendency is to think that the centerline wont wear because it is covered, but if you kite l...

Re: best launch spot in langebaan

Leave the 17 at home (maybe even the 12), you'll be spoilt with so much kiting that you wont want to bother struggling with light winds and might even actually appreciate some off time. Big kites are just wasted baggage that time of the year around Cape Town or Langebaan. Disagree. In the mornings ...

Re: Nick Jacobsen leaves Cabrinha team

Wonder what he is going to ride in the mean time. I suppose he can still ride his Cabs for now but if he joins the new North, they don't have any kites out yet AFAIK? Not good for his KOTA chances in 4.5 months.

Re: Wash or not wash your kites

Don’t let anybody tell you that municipal fresh water is somehow worse for your kite than salt water. Yes there’s a bit of chlorine in it and the amount may vary from country to country, but in most places it can be drunk straight out the tap, people cook with it, wash clothes, wash cars, water gard...

Re: Any paragliding pilots around here?

I've done a bit of paragliding and a ton of PPG. I'm not sure I agree that kiting is so much more safe than PPG (maybe PG yes). As someone said, it all has to do with your approach. If you stick to the rules you learnt during your training a serious accident is very unlikely to happen. PPG is usuall...

IIRC it came with a pulley bar. So those modern bars wont work.

Re: Keros Limnos kitesurf, windsurfing spot review

I asked a similar question near the beginning of this thread, but no one answered, maybe it's a big secret!! Anyway I may be going there later this year so will reply back here if no one else does. If there's issues at the main kite spot I will try to explore some other options along the eastern coa...
