Re: Long mast - is it a con?

Longer masts are definitely not a "con". They're better for some things, less good for others. I've been using a 85cm mast for the last few years (before that I had 100cm & 92cm masts). As with everything, you adapt your technique to the gear you are using. After the time I have spent on this mast, ...

Re: Newind Foilboard 108

My buddy has a 108cm Newind board. He loves it! I am just awaiting the arrival of a 105cm Rewind board - I'll post my impressions when I receive it.

At speed, fronts usually tend to sink, not lift. It is the stabilizer that forces them up.
?

I'm guessing the stabilizers can provide upward or downward lift depending on the AOA ... but surely the front wing always creates lift - without that the hydrofoil wouldn't work.

Re: My experiences with some Gong foilwings

Yeah - I'm using the Fast stab, the smallest stab available (well ... not any more apparently) for the monobloc.

Re: My experiences with some Gong foilwings

Two comments: I think it would be good to start each answer with "kitefoiling" when it is not about wingfoil. Find it very confusing to read, as these two sports got so little in common, and the foils which are used. Of course one could say the kitefoil questions should be placed in that section ye...

Re: My experiences with some Gong foilwings

If you want more speed, I dont think this is the right choice - why do you think it should be fast? Not sure of course, but I think that a wing that keeps the airfoil of the curve M, reducing a little the surface and increasing the AR, could work well for me. Top end speed must me a little higher, ...

Re: My experiences with some Gong foilwings

Why do I have those two stabs? I bought a foil set (85cm mast) that came with the Fast stab ... and later bought another complete foil set (100cm mast) that came with the Fluid stab. I tried it a few times and found it a little draggier than the Fast stab. I stopped using it mainly because it made a...

Re: My experiences with some Gong foilwings

I use the Fast Stab 40cm with Fluid S-T, M-T (Kitefoil) and L-T (Wingfoil). I would like to have a smaller Fast Stab - ~35..38cm - but there is none available. As of today (because I was procrastinating), the cheapo Rise 45cm stab is no longer available. It looks like the only older style stab opti...

Re: My experiences with some Gong foilwings

I dont understand that "if I'm going to go all in on winging"? 8) Peter You evidently have a very different approach from mine. I have always really valued simplicity. After 40 years of wind sports I feel I finally arrived at what seems like the pinnacle of simplicity/performance: a 100cm board, 4 ...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

https://www.heritage.org/environment/commentary/follow-the-climate-change-money The Heritage Foundation is a right wing Christian nationalist group that have a worryingly gigantic influence over the Republican party. I wouldn't use them as a reference as they're known to "make shit up." Typical Ltr...
