Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

By other governments to keep prices artificially low in their jurisdictions, yes? Oil producing companies/countries just benefit from those handouts. So Sweden will impoverish its population by using fossil fuels - enriching Norway in the process? Democratic governments all over the world will do t...

Re: Anyone currently living in Tenerife South?

Seems so odd that they can't just improve the parking. There is enough empty land there - and all they need to do is dump some tons of gravel somewhere. I understand there is a natural reserve at one side, but the parking doesn't have to be close could be to the North. Right now the actual parking n...

Re: Anyone currently living in Tenerife South?

Can you still park along the road going to the beach from the highway? Can some minutes walk, but I never had any issues finding a spot.

If one is staying in that area I would just stay in El Medano if I could though.

Re: Anyone currently living in Tenerife South?

I'm not expert on El Medano, but did some research before my trip last year. Seems like wind comes in "spurts" so you get wind a couple of days in a row before it goes dead. Or at least that is how it has been the last years around Christmas (hardly enough data to say it is always like this). I'll b...

Re: Anyone currently living in Tenerife South?

Been there - and going back over Christmas. mati is correct - all depends on what you are looking for. Personally not a big fan of the Adeje-area which is "charter tourism hell", but at the same time the nicest weather (if you like it warm), more restaurants etc. Part of the North coast is stunning,...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

1. Fossil fuels are by far the cheapest energy source we got (at scale) - which is why they are used. And Norway is not exceptionally rich because the rest of the world is desperately subsidizing us. Why would most of the world, who are energy importers, make Saudi, Norway extremely rich based on s...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

I don't have the data but I think Norway and Saudi Arabia are rich because oil has always been the cheapest energy source (not considering any environmental issues here). But renewables, especially solar panels have seen spectacular price drops in recent years. If it wasn't for the subsidies (etc) ...

Re: climate change / unpredictable weather/wind

1. Fossil fuels are not on net subsidized. Do you believe the world would be richer without fossil fuels if we just stopped "subsidizing" it? 2. I have quite some money invested in the "solar panel industry". Probably not my best investment. As I have explained earlier they do not work with current...
