Re: The death of gear! Terribly bad products. Are there any?

I think that the rush by kite companies to constantly release new kite models is not beneficial to us kiters. The Flysurfer approach of spending a couple of years developing each new model seems much healthier. That way, each new model can truly be an improvement over the last. Or do what most " no...

Re: The death of gear! Terribly bad products. Are there any?

I second the comment about the 2009 North Rebel. I have an '08 Rebel and I love it, but North obviously made some serious mistakes with the design of the '09 Rebel. I tried an '09 9m Rebel for a day, and twice experienced exactly what woodfu described: the kite would actually fold up into a Christma...

Re: Cabarete, Cumbuco or Sumbawa?

UK47 said that he needed a "decent broadband connection". In light of that, is Sumbawa really a good choice? I have not been to Sumbawa myself, but my experience from the neighboring island Lombok is that broadband connection (indeed, any Internet connection at all) can be hard to come by outside a ...

Re: spot for kitesurf in Asia in March

Pranburi is nice, but with all due respect, it is a stretch to call Hua Hin "crowded". I just came back from three weeks in Hua Hin, and the maximum number of kites I counted on the water was 40, and that was when the first wind hit after a two-day spell of no wind and everyone was desperate to get ...

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing that.

Have you snowkited further north in Sweden? I may be visiting the Abisko or Vittangi areas in northern Lappland later on. Do you know anything about the conditions up there?

Re: Is Cairns good during July?

I visited Cairns for just over a week last July and the wind was good on about half the days I was there. There's plenty of other things to do besides kiting (including great diving and a cable ski park), so overall I was very pleased with my trip. Yorkie's knob was a nice spot, and the locals are a...

Re: spot for kitesurf in Asia in March

Hi Barbara, nice to see a fellow Singaporean on the board :-) You are in luck: March is an excellent time for a one-week kitesurfing holiday in Asia. My recommendation would be Hua Hin in Thailand, or Boracay in the Phillippines. Both are good places for a beginner, and are almost guaranteed to have...

Re: Asia kitesurfing spots?

When will you be traveling? At most locations in Asia, kiting is seasonal, so your travel itinerary will have to depend on what time of the year that you go. Mui Ne is one of the few places where you have good chances of being able to kite no matter what month you visit, since it is exposed to both ...
