DIY bar with inverted QR

I've been fiddling with my control bar, and decided to attach the front lines directly to the chicken loop..

Re: Crashing backwards on waist harness

Another option might be to wear an impact vest.
My impact vest covers the top of my seat harness.

Re: demo of lower line self landing method

This is also a great way to self-land a strutless kite

Re: recomendations - walk to kite launch

Langebaan could work? Small place where you can easily live close to the beach and have a supermarket and some places to eat and drink in walking distance. That would be January and February I guess for the best wind. For sure Langebaan, or if you're looking for really flat water, Witsand or Herman...

Re: Lufthansa/Turkish Kite gear policy

Another option is to buy a used kiteboard when you get to Cape Town.
There is a very active Facebook group "Second Hand Kitesurfing Gear South Africa".

Re: TT rails

I build my boards with ABS rails and a round profile, as I like to think it gives more grip/control (i.e. is less prone to skipping out in rough chop). Since I generally ride in powered conditions I'm not too concerned with upwind ability. So.. the rail profile depends on what conditions you're desi...

Self landing Clouds and UFO’s, sit wing tip on ground as usual, pull in LOWER front line, kite falls on back and sits there. Walk up lower front line, job done.
I'll have to give this a try!

Re: Self landing method

... The only other method I read about or watched is yanking the lower center line so that it’s upside down on its back. This seems to be the most commonly used self landing technique that doesn’t use an anchor. But seems a bit problematic to me because the canopy has a high risk of developing hole...

very cool board, what did you build it from, did you cut back an old board or was this a new construction? If so what materials did you use?
Thanks! I built it using corecell, fibreglass/carbon and abs for the rails. The build thread is over here:

Re: Kids Kiteboard

I built a wakeboard for my son when he was 7, 96cm in length. I'm using Liquid Force kids' bindings. He is 9 now, and still using it, although it's probably time for me to build him a larger one (110cm). He is comfortable flying my trainer kite, but I'll probably wait a few more years before I'll le...
