And also, let's be real the challenges you suggest above are by no means easy or many as you suggest.

Re: Pea Island "OBX" (closed for Kiteboarding)

Richard, many kiters would like to stand up for their rights, they simply do not understand their rights and more importantly do not know how to handle the inevitable bureaucracy that will be encounter. Now, it's time to put your pontificating to real -practical use. What exactly would you recommend...

Re: Pea Island "OBX" (closed for Kiteboarding)

I absolutely agree with Richard. The repliers need to chill, this is not an attack on Dimitri, but an attack as to how we all deal with authority, especially in America. With all due respect whoever cited the general mission of the fish and wildlife authority proves Richard's point exactly, And, for...

Re: Depower Rope/line

Is it true that most depower lines are made of Dyneema. Is this the best rope on the market for this use, does anyone know the pros and cons and are there alternatives that may be better. Perhaps someone with sailing or climbing experience can shed some light.

Re: Depower Rope/line

Seriously, wax and wash your lines? Is there no rope that can last longer than a season??? And why are the tiny flying lines more durable than the depower rope? At $500 for a new bar we should be getting the best quality lines. There must be more durable lines, for example climbing Ropes or perhaps ...

Depower Rope/line

I am always surprised how quickly the depower rope wears out. I find myself replacing the rope once a season at least. I mostly fly north kites but I've experienced the same issue on other manufacturer's bar. Certainly with todays technology there must be better quality rope? The flying lines seem t...

Re: Who is responsible for kite when landing?

I love this tread, what a huge waste of time. If you are reverse parking your car and ask someone to guide you back you would be responsible if you hit and damaged something....except, if the idiot that you've enlisted for the project acts intentionally to cause harm, then, maybe, just maybe he or s...

Re: Kiters ranking among other beach users

Richard, right on point, thank you. As a community we need to understand the criteria and the analysis that a regulatory agency will consider when they are requested to address a conflict between swimmers and/or other uses and kiters. As you mentioned, by any reasonable persons perspective, kiting w...

Re: Kiters ranking among other beach users

BWD, very good point, I've edited my comments to reference "privileges" rather than "rights". The point, however, still remains...Is our privilege to use an unregulated beach somehow secondary than the other privileges (uses) and therefore more likely to be regulated by authorities? I suspect we all...

Re: Kiters ranking among other beach users

I tend to lean toward Peter Frank's position. All beach goers have equal privilege to use the beach, however the uses are not equal. When you have a single user occupying 25 meters of beach well that's not equal to 3 folks on a blanket and therefore more likely to be regulated. I think we need to be...
