Re: Skimboard - what to buy??

I bought a Roush skimboard and then had it customized a bit - great board. Skimboarding takes some getting used to but really fun when it's mushy out or low winds.

I'm donating some trainer kites to groups that oversee kids with ADHD. The idea is to help improve hand-eye coordination and hopefully learning. It will be supervised by kite instructors for everyone's safety. I got the idea from my grandfather who used to have an optometry practice that worked with...

Re: Does Pro Riders make you buy gear?

Sure they do, that's why the skies are filled with flexi kites :D
That's funny - I always think about that when I see all the kites up and not one Flexifoil.

Re: New Guy here from Wisconsin

Agreed that a good instructor will save you money and time in the long run. At least find someone who knows what they are doing to teach you if you aren't going to pay for them. And definitely stay way downwind of everyone so when you get blown down the beach, you won't ruin everyone's day. http://w...

Re: Beginner setup

Definitely for your weight and the lower winds in SD, you'd want a big kite.

I'd get a big board as well and 43 wide or more. Have fun in your lesson!

Re: New to Kiting. What Type of Trainer Kite should I get?

You mentioned a DVD - they do help the learning curve. The Way to Fly is a good one as well as Real's Zero to Hero.
When you advance to a full SLE kite, the Progression Beginner is a great video.
