Re: the big dilemma: Pump vs Foil?

I think the OP and thread title was asking for personal reasons why you fly either foil or tube for hydrofoiling. For sure in breaking surf you don’t want to drop a peak. You don’t want to drop any kite in the surf, but a peak is likely the worst case scenario. For those of us who are very much not ...

Re: the big dilemma: Pump vs Foil?

Well, plenty of strong opinions I guess! I’m not surprised. I would imagine that the relaunch clause is a deal killer for most people when it comes to Peaks. I’m a few years into them now and there are certainly limitations. You can’t reliably drift/relaunch them in under 10 knot. I won’t usually bo...

Re: the big dilemma: Pump vs Foil?

Started foiling with my three strut kites, then went to strutless, bought a quiver of single strut, and then tried single skin. I now have a full quiver of the single skins and here are my personal reasons. Size: They are low end tractors so my foiling quiver is down the the same sizes I used to win...

Re: Body Position while riding a hydrofoil

With respect to stance, regardless of board sport, one of the cues I keep coming back to and that keeps delivering results is the concept of "keep your head out of the boat". During the learning phases of every step of progression there is a pretty natural tendency to shift your gaze to the board, y...

Re: UBER light wind FOIL kite

First off 6-9 is black magic fuckery type stuff so, grain of salt! A 12 m soul will have way more low end that your SST, but it’s not the ultimate weapon. The Hyperlink is likely better as are any of the racing kites out there. The race kites have a learning curve that can have some less than fun ti...

Re: Hydrofoil storm kite options

After getting used to single skin, I second guessed and bought a 3m single strut a few years back. Did multiple back to back sessions in high winds and came away with a very clear preference for the single skin. Drift was not really the reason, more so the back stall gets really finicky in super gus...

Re: Adjustable rocker for everyone - handle

Not too sure about this one. Most boards have a progressive rocker that is mostly near the boards tips. Wake boards are a great place to look for an understanding of this where they have experimented extensively. The concepts that have crossed over to kite boards are either progressive rocker, often...

Re: Wingfoil Tricks

It's finally happened. This sport has officially broken into my closed mind. The top end riding is every bit as impressive as other sports. Landing straight to foilling is always gonna be sick. Almost makes me want straps. Almost. Still. I find it funny how sports go. These moves are all really grea...

Re: Hydrofoil Has Absorbed Water

how old is the foil and how much time in the water has it had. Even if its water it could smell chemically as thats what it has soaked up. Don't drink it! From years on surfboards. Many foams are a full on vacuumes and suck water through even a crack in the glass. Some foams claim to be closed cell ...
