Tylaska Light Air Shackle

It’s polycarbonate, super light, and has a 500 pound break strength. Obviously it’s not for an application that could result in a fall, but perhaps it’s interesting for example a quick release for a leash. Photo here is the grey light air shackle and a large bail T5 with a 5000 lb breaking strength....

Re: Kiting after heart attack

A heart attack can mean a lot of different things. You don’t have the language to know the full story and therefore cannot tell the full story to us. And for that reason you should not take any advice from the Kiteforum even from people with a credential. 1/3 of people with MI die before they get to...

Washed after every use with clean water and stored indoors.
I always thought it was better to leave the kite salty. The less you do to it the better. But 5 years is a good run so you must be doing something right.

Simply hold the wing leash with your teeth and put the wing on your back when paddling out - works very well.

What could possibly go wrong! LOL

Re: Anyone use flippers?

But yes, I see so many surfing extremely far out, and I dont know why???? Can someone explain why this is? 8) Peter Sometimes there is more wind away from the shore or more interesting swell. It may make sense to practice upwind and downwind riding in onshore winds. Sometimes it’s is fun to do a pa...

Re: Ozone EXP Question

Isn't the EXP an open cell Chrono with lighter cloth? You can over-sheet the Chrono v4 and make a pinwheel turn on the center of the kite. The turns become gutless but they are fast enough. Im a big fan of the longer bars. I use 62 cm on 11 and 15 chrono in part to speed turning even when the kite i...

Re: the smallest kite for foiling?

If you can get a zero-strut, like a Slingshot UFO certainly do it. A single strut will feel way better than switchblades and are good too. I’d say a 5/7/10 quiver would do well depending on winds you get. A 5m will easily work for whitecaps+ winds, 7 will be awesome for below the whitecaps and 10m ...

Re: Kitefoil through whitewash and breaking waves

As far as dealing with whitewater I think if it’s easy to go around I almost always will. It’s easy to make up lost headway with the foil. Sometimes you have to go through. So a question is can you cross a whitewater with a strapless surfboard. The motion is similar. I like to put the kite high, pow...

Re: Kitefoil through whitewash and breaking waves

There are definitely foils that are better for whitewater. I have not ridden the Gong. I would say a few exercises to try with the foil are to try to trace the surface with the foil riding flat in flat water. And try a 360 with a breached wingtip. If the foil sucks air and falls in an easy controlle...

a serious cold weather kiter.
60 degrees is seriously cold when you live down here. You guys come down and wear board shorts while we are still in a steamer. Very dangerous and reckless. Brrrr. :nono:
